COACH'S NOTES

We had an initial practicing has started. We will be having our
first full team practice on Thursday night 3/26/2009 at 6:00 P.M.
Thanks to all,
Coach G.
3/23/2009
Second practice is done, and we had a great attendance of 11
considering the bad weather. We continiue with a Tuesday & Thursday
practice this week
Got our ROSTER, and the start date of the season. All we need
now is the schedule, so I can put it up on the web.
See you all Tuesday or Thursday,
Coach G. 3/30/2009
Practice number three, run by coach Fred and Trish, is in
the books and we had another good attendance of 10, including
more of our new team members.
We will be back on the field Thursday at 6:00 and hope to get
a scrimmage in, if at all possible, so be on time.
See you all Thursday,
Coach G. Coach Fred and Coach Trish 4/1/2009
Fourth practice was, again, well attended with 12 girls there.
We were able to get a 1/2 hour scrimmage with Coach Maurizio's team.
I believe it was a good practice for both teams. It gave me a chance
to see some lines I hope to play together.
We will have a Sunday practice this weekend. It will be our
last Sunday practice.
Season starts on April 19th. Getting close.
See you all Sunday,
Coach G. 4/2/2009
Sundays practice was attended by 12 girls again. As the
practices move forward, the starting lines begin to take form.
We are moving closer to the start of the season on April 19 against
Marblehead in Wenham.
We will continue our practices as the weather allows, but we
have had our last Sunday practice for the season.
See you all during the week,
Coach G. 4/6/2009
Thursday was a succesful practice attended by 12 players.
Practices included some basics and moved on to 4 on 3's
We were able to get in a friendly scrimmage with a boy's team.
It was successful time, with benefits going to both teams
One of our last couple of practices will be this coming Wednesday
See you all then or Thursday.
Coach G. 4/11/2009
Our last practice before the first game of the season
took place on Thursday 4/16. We had 11 players and had a very
strong practice. We hope that we will be well prepared for our
first game on Sunday Marblehead in Wenahm.
We will be at a bit of a disadvantage, since we will be missing a number of girls. I am hoping ot have at least 11 so
we will not be too many under, with no subs. I am looking for
the girls to put all of themselves in the game and have a very
competetive contest.
Come and support us at out first away "HOME" game.
See you on Sunday at 12:03 for our 1:00 P.M> game.
Coach G. 4/17/2009
We did get our first game of the season in Wenham against
Marblehead, with one pure defender, Jessica . I had to move Mid
fielders and forwards in as defensive players.
I was able to start the 3 starting forwards line intact,
and shifted some people in the midfield.
Janelle at goal was outstanding, allowing only 2 of the 22
shot she faced, go by.
Unfortunately, we did lose, but it was a 2 to 0 game. The girls
all pitched in well to try to play where they were placed and were
relatively successful.
Issues to look at was the lack of shooting and non attacking
play throughout the game on offense.
All in all I still would say it was a sucessful day, staying
with the Marblehead team and making a good showing, with so many
playing out of thier normal position.
Practice will only be on Thursday this week, so please try to
attend.
Coach G. 4/19/2009
We went to Marblehead to play game number 2. We, again, had to
start the game with 10 players, and with a few minutes left in the
first half, got player number 11.
The team got off to a fast start and we went up 1 - 0 against
the No. Andover team. It was a bit short lived, when they tied the
game on an errant clearing pass from the goal. That did set the
theme, unfortunately, for the rest of the first half, with 1 more
clearing pass and a missfired goal kick leading to 2 more goals.
Our girls were tired and hot, and the No Andover team had 21
players, so subs were no problem for them.
Second half started well for us, dominating field position.
at about the 20 minute mark, the comeback began, and we got 2 goals
to tie the game, with some great runs and great crossing passes.
Defense got a number of attacks going and the midfield was
able to stop attacks started by the opposition and get the ball into
our attacking end.
A great steel on a goal kick led to an unassisted goal and a
tremendous comeback and win for the CRUSH.
CONGRATS to the entire team. It was an 11 player TEAM win.
We have Tuesday annd Thursday practices this week and a
bye week for us and will resume competition on 5/10 in Winthrop.
Coach G. 4/27/09
We had 2 practices last week and plan on 2 this week.
Coach Loomis had a practice on Monday, anticipating the bad weather
on Tuesday, and I am hopng to get the Thursday practice in on
Thursday.
We are home on Sunday, although it will not be considered our
home game. This is a game that can bring us to second place with a
win against Danvers, who we are tied with.
We will need a good effort and hopefully a sub or two would help
us a whole lot.
Come to the field at 2:45 and support the CRUSH
Coach G. 5/05/09
We played game 3 at home this week against Danvers. We had 1
sub this week, which was a luxury for us. The girls brought the
game from last week onto the Winthrop field and took a 3 - 0 lead
into the second half. Danvers had the wind advantage the second half
but it was hard to see any advantage, since our girls took command
over the field and the Danvers team. We scored another goal and help
Danvers shotless in the second hald and 2 shots for the entire game.
Second week of great play by a great team, playing as well as I
have seen this team play. They have come together as a TEAM.
Whatever happens from here out, this group has grown and are playing
off of each other.
Our next trial is a cross-group game against Ipswich on Sunday.
We will be in North Andover for this game.
Come and support your girls and thier team.
BTW: With the win over Danvers, we have sole position of second place.
Great Job Team. Keep the intensite......
Coach G. 5/11/09
Game 4 is now history and a WIN for the CRUSH. We played our
cross-over game with Ipswich. This is our only cross-over game for
this season. It was another TEAM effort for the girls. We started off
slow but as the game moved on, the girls settled into playing thier
game ant took over. At the end of the first half we were ahead 5 to
0 with one of the 5 goals a PK. As the second half started, the
Ipswich team came out strong, and took the play to us ,with early
second half play in our end. We finally got settled in
and took the play back, with 2 more goals in the half, giving the
team a 7 - 0 win and, after a Marblehead loss today, a tie for 1st
place.
I must, again, complement the girls, for another great TEAM EFFORT.
Another game that we had 11 players and no subs. The girls gave it
their all, with a successful end to a tough game.
We will be off to Danvers for thier Invitational Tournament.
We resume our next season game on Sunday 5/31 in Peabody against
Hamilton-Wenham.
Come and support your girls and thier TEAM.
Another Great Job TEAM. Keep the intensity and focus......
Coach G. 5/17/09
Game 5 is completed againse the Hamelton-Wenham team, played in
Peabody. We started off ythis game a bit flat, but after 10 or so minuteS
got on track and played the type of game this team can play. We took
control of the ball, the field and the game for the first half, as the
rain began to fall on us. We ended ths first half with a 2 - 0 lead, and
looked good on the field.
Second half did not start out so well, with the H-W team taking over
the field advantage and taking the play to us. We did get back on our heels
for a solid 20 minutes, but were able to allow them only 1 goal. After
that, we again found ourselves and began the road back to what would be our
4th win of the season. 2 more goals in the second half and game ended 4 - 1.
I must, again, complement the girls, for another great TEAM EFFORT.
We had 2 subs this game, which helped us move forward. Another 100% effort
the girls out on the filed.
We will be off to Danvers for our last regular season game next Sunday,
against Marblehead, the team we played the first game of the season. Unfortunately
it appears that we will not have a full roster for this team, but I knoW the
girls will put thier all into it.
Be at the GAME and Support your girls and thier TEAM.
Keep the intensity and focus......

Last gama played this past Sunday against Marblehead, and they
seem to be the the only team the knows how to beat us, because they
did it again. We lost 3 - 1 in a not very pretty game. Janelle, our
goalie, played an incredible game facing 30 shots, turning back 27
of them.
After all the dust settled and the league got the numbers straight
we did end up as the 1st place team in our group. We will know who
when we play on June 16th at the Tournament meeting.
We would love to see a great turnout at Pingree when we play.
KEEP THE INTENSITY AND GET BACK THE FOCUS
