nowadays called dysentery. The doctor said she had to be moved to the country. So for six months Kate and Helen lived in Overisel in her grandparents house. Grandma Schaap was caught many times giving Helen graham crackers when all she was to have was the water of barley every two hours.
Helen and Joe lived in Jackson for five years while working for Taylor Produce Co. In 1937 they bought a farm ten miles north of Jackson. They lived on this 100 acre farm on Grand River until 1963.

Garrett graduated from U. of M. in 1934 as a mechanical engineer. During WWII he designed the gunsight for the B-29 bomber. He is retired and an avid reader, likes to hunt and fish. Elizabeth attended Meredith College and Jackson Business University. She was an executive secretary and homemaker. She is an avid duplicate bridge player. |
