In real life, there are several hundred case reports of persons poisoned by their dental fillings; these reports are in the scientific community with real evidence. They have known this for several decades that dental fillings have never been proven to be completely safe, especially for certain sensitive individuals exposed to the low doses of mercury emitted by dental fillings. In Sweden, the most ultra-conservative country in the western world, they take the official position that dental fillings are a possible source of mercury poisoning for the general population and are considered unsafe, and have been banned since 1997 . They are also BANNED in DENMARK, Restricions have been placed on the use of Dental Amalgams in HIGHLY SENSITIVE POPULATIONS ( Pregnant Women, Lactating Women (Nursing/Breastfeeding), Young Children, Persons with Renal Disease [ i.e. KIDNEY PROBLEMS ] and persons with Allergies (HYPERSENSITIVTIES) to Heavy Metals in the Countries of GERMANY, AUSTRIA & CANADA. See USPHS 1993 Review of the Safety of Dental Amalgams- Reafirmmed in 1995 & 1997, for more info [ Do Google or Y! Search]  Also, in Sweden the TLV-Threshold Limit Value for industrial mercury vapor exposure is 5 times lower than in the US, because of the inter-individual differences in the sensitivity to mercury at low levels of the dose-response curve (i.e. at low doses some persons exhibit signs and symptoms of mercury poisoning which are not normally considered to be toxic for the average person). In fact, this increased sensitivity is described as genetically determined in the medical literature-Textbook of Neurology-Intoxications of the CNS, a current AMA publication.

The AMA knows of the existence of these case reports, in fact the AMA was so swayed by these several hundred case reports that they held the official position (JUST LIKE SWEEDEN AND THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY) in the early to mid 90's that dental fillings were a possible source of mercury poisoning for the general population for certain sensitive individuals. They have changed their official position since then, but the scientific community did not nor did Sweden, in fact articles are still published in both the scientific community and the mainstream press
