This is an introductory course in metaphysics. It attempts to reflect on the principle which grounds all that present themselves in our experience. This principle is the "dialectical alliance of being and the spirit".".

The student is introduced to a process of metaphysical thinking, its nature and the reason for it. It attempts to describe the very dynamics of explanation on that which is, as it is expressed in the different levels of the sciences. On the top of the hierarchy of these sciences is Metaphysics, which focuses on being as it is.

The metaphysical discourse progresses towards the ethical. The foundational alliance of the spirit and being implies their original difference of their existence. Thus, analyzing the spirit’s encounter of the other, metaphysics recognizes the actualized principle existentially. It discovers that the foundation of the intellective activity beyond itself, in an ethical act. It equally shows that the foundation of the human relations is beyond their circularity. In this way, we make our contemporary theme of the "ontological difference".".

Finally, the whole discourse attempts to determine the conceptual tools that accompany the conversation on this fundamental principle called “being-in-act.” These conceptual tools are mainly the analogy of proportionality and the transcendentals.
