| Welcome to Mod four According to Shelly, Cashman, and Gunter in 'Integrating Technology in the Classroom,' "Evaluating the appropriateness and effectiveness of educational technology is an important aspect of integrating current technology into the classroom...Evaluating educational technology involves determining if the technology is approopriate and enhances the teaching and learning process." In this mod, we will explore how to search and how to edit material found on the Internet. Again, the decision of the individual teacher is paramount in determining which material is to be integrated into the curriculum, and how it is to be utilized. |

| Explore some of the suggestions in the following links by skimming the article: 'Instructional Uses of the Internet in the Elementary Classroom.' Visit a few of the instructional links listed in this article. Search Engines have become much better as the years have gone by. Now, with improvement of search engines, we no longer need to learn complicated search techniques, such as Boolean Searching. However, sometimes it is beneficial to know how to narrow our search, in the beginning. And then we can try a more complex search with a few simple tools. Try my favorite search engine, and my second favorite search engine. Google has become the standard of excellence, and I do recommend starting there. MSN, which is Microsoft, is trying to 'out-google google' with its new engine, Bing, try it and see what you think. You can set a filter on google for strict or moderate filtering on image searches. |
