Introduction The first six assignments are worth five points each (6 x 5 =30;) assignments for Mods 7 through 11 are worth 10 points each (5 x 10 = 50;) and Module 12 is worth 20 points, for a total of 100. This is a graduate level class, and you need 80 points to pass. You may begin the workshop at any time, progress at your own rate, and finish anytime within 12 weeks. This workshop will guide you through building your own website, including most of the "bells and whistles" that you see here including: inserting digital backgrounds, flashing buttons, customized text buttons, mouse image trails, page transitions (ie. fade-ins and outs,) floating images, random apparitions, animated graphics, sound loops, music loops, clip art images, navigation tools (ie. hyperlinks to other websites and links to your other pages.) Most of you assignments are accessed through the "Modules" link on the class homepage. You will not need the "Forum" link until Mod 7. This is an online bulletin board where we will be posting information that the rest of the class will find relevant, inlcuding the address of our web page when that is operational. We will also be following the progress of each other's web sites here. The Forum is password protected and I will e-mail you the password, when registration is complete. If you ever have any problems, feel free to contact me through e-mail and I will work them out with you. There are a great number of "bells and whistles" that you can add to your site. Some of the pages in this website may seem very "busy," but that is because I want you to see what is available for you to learn and integrate into your own website from this workshop. You may decide that you only want to use a fraction of them, or if you have preschoolers, you may decide that you want to incorporate more. You will learn the basics of good web design, and then decide for yourself. |

| Syllabus This class is designed to make the integration of technology in the classroom fun, quick and easy. Participants will learn most of the techniques seen here in this website. You will build a website in Geocities (free) similar to the one seen here, including all the elements seen here: digital backgrounds, animated graphics, sounds, music loops, hyperlinks to the Internet, hotlinks to other pages, page transitions (ie. fade-ins and outs,) image trails, border animations, animated fonts, flashing buttons, and more. Participants will also learn elements of good web design, and create your own curriculum page. The new learning tool, the WebQuest, will be explored and then everyone will create their own. Also, how to download and edit free lesson plans will be covered. Using the Internet will become an indespensible tool for the teacher who wants to bring the world to their students . |
| Note: Occasionally when accessing this website you will see a message that states that it is temporarily "down" as it has "exceeded its data allocation, try back in an hour." If you receive this message DO NOT keep trying to get into the website, you will be shutting it down longer. Sometimes GEOCITIES "thinks" that the site is being "hacked into" and shuts it down for an hour. If you keep trying to get in, it only keeps it down longer. Walk away and come back in an hour or later at night, or early in the morning when Internet traffic is lighter. This is one of the disadvantages of a free website, but is for our protection. This is a good reason not to wait until the last minute to try and hurry up and finish the class. Give yourself enough time in case this happens. |
