| Torrachilty Forest |
| There is a lot to see and ride in this forest, from the river Blackwater to the peak of Ben Wyvis at 1046 meters. Fine views are afforded in all directions from marked vantage points all the way along the route. Contin car park will serve well as a start of this route, although you can cycle from either Strathpeffer (home of Square wheels, an excellent bike shop with friendly informative staff, the owners a adventure racer, a real source of advise!), or my home town of Dingwall. The route takes you through undulating terrain and once in the forest many archaeological sites worth having a look at. You really have to go to this forest its enormous. Spend a day whizzing round just the main single track and you will only have covered half the forest. The loch half way up the Ben is a great jump off spot for some real off road adventure, if you fancy riding hard then follow the edge of the loch to the old dry stone dyke about a one kilometres past the boat house. Once past the loch welcome to a wild open forest with tracks that defy maps, bring a compass |
