Cock of Arran
Cock of Arran Route in brief.     Back
Distance 25 km (45km total if cycling from the ferry), climb 270m, 1km awkward carry at Fairy dell, short carry at Laggan, fast descent, tough climb, tearoom at Lochranza.

Handy parking is available in the picnic area car park at North Sannox but most enthusiasts will cycle from the ferry at Brodick. The costal path is flat to Laggan.
There is a short carry after Laggan and a difllcult 1km carry between Laggan and Lochranza, after Ossians cave, over a series of large boulders, which have fallen from the crags above the shore.
After the Fairy Dell carry there is an option of a higher track, starting beside a shore dwelling giving a lovely view over Locbranza.
Lunch can be had at the tearoom opposite the pier in Lochranza.
After lunch retrace the route back over the river to the Lodge and turn right up the rough track. This track is hard work but with rewarding views, and a fabulous descent to Laggan. Return is back along the shore track. A very enjoyable outing if the weather is good.
