On the phone D: Lara I�m sorry to have to ask but can you come in? There�s been a bit of an emergency and now there�s an RTA on its way and we have 1 doctor����Thank you so much.
P: Bye Duffy.
Holly: Yeah thanks and everything.
D: Bye you two, get some rest.
L: Duffy what�s the emergency?
D: You remember me telling you about the SHO you replaced?
L: Err Holly? Yes.
D: Well she brought her baby in about an hour ago and he died.
L: What�s that got to do with us being a doctor down?
D: Lara, the baby was Patrick�s.
L: Did he know? Is he OK? (She looks worried)
D: He�s as well as can be expected. He didn�t know about Luke until Holly brought him in. They�ve gone back to Patrick�s tonight and he probably wont be in tomorrow either.
L: I�d better give him a ring check he�s alright.
D: Lara don�t. I think him and Holly need a bit of space and time to sort it out.
L: They�ll end up back together, I know it.
D: Don�t tell me you�re still in love with him.
L: How can I stop loving him, I see him every day and it makes my stomach flip. The way he smiles makes my knees go weak. His voice does thing to me I can�t explain and what annoys me is the way he still flirts with me. I just want him so badly and there�s nothing I can do about it.
D: At the moment the best thing you can do is give him space to grieve, he won�t want to think about too many things, I know how he feels remember.
L: I just want to tell him that it�s OK and I�m here for him.
D: Tell him that when you see him next, don�t disturb him at home. Come on the RTA�s here!
L: OK Duffy what have we got?
D: Looks like a fractured tib and fib and he�s slightly tachycardic.
L: Right, well, errrrm, he�s stable enough Anna ring x-ray and get him up ASAP.
D: Lara, a word.
L: Sure.
D: Concentrate Lara, I know you�re worried about Patrick but he�s strong enough, he�ll be fine.
L: I know, I know. I can�t help thinking about him though.
A: Lara he�s ready to go up now.
D: OK. Get him upstairs. Get ready for the next one.
L: Can I take a quick break? Will you be alright for 5 minutes?
D: If you�re going to go and ring Patrick then no!
L: I just need some fresh air and a cigarette.
D: Don�t be too long.
Outside Lara turns on her mobile and �New Message� flashes up. She reads it and smiles. It looks like she�s not been forgotten after all. She goes back inside just as the second patient is wheeled into resus.
Comfort: This one�s not as bad. Neil Stone, 25, he�s tachycardic and he was having trouble breathing but apart from that he�s just got cuts and bruises.
L: Neil! What happened? Are you alright?
D: You two know each other?
