This is a photo of the corner of the back yard taken from the second floor deck. There wasn't much here as you can see; part of a stone wall and bare dirt! The old satelllite dish and wiring had already been removed at this point. We decided to build up the wall another foot or so and make a planting bed behind it. It took a while to collect enough rocks and finish the wall, but we finally finished it. |

After one year it looks a little better - I am still learning what will work in our climate. |

Summer 2000 |

|
A house was built on the empty lot next door making it a real necessity to build a fence! The neighbors are only a few feet away. Now it is much more private. Unfortunately the garden isn't doing as well as we had hoped this Summer. Winter 2001 was the driest on record in southern California. All of the plants and trees are suffering from the effects of the drought. |
