Last entry: America Attacked
Well 2001 is now history and we are beginning a new year.  As you can see if you look at preceding journal entries I was nowhere as vigilant at keeping up the journal entries in '01 as I was in 2000.  I will try to be more consistent in the coming year but will most likely switch to adding one entry a month as a means to achieve consistency. The truth is not much really happens on  a week to week basis at least not much that is worth noting here.

December was a quiet month after the hectic pace of preparing for Thanksgiving. I was on holiday the last couple of weeks of the month and took advantage of the time to do some chores around the house and to see a few movies both on DVD and at the theater. The two that I saw at the theater were "Harry Potter" and "The Fellowship of the Rings" both were great choices. Though both ran  2 1/2 to 3 hours it didn't feel that long at all.

On DVD I saw "The Green Plaid Shirt", "Memento", "America's Sweethearts" and "Shrek". Each of these listed I would definitely recommend seeing at least once. This is my second time seeing "The Green Plaid Shirt". I'm not sure what keeps drawing me back to it. but after considerable thought I believe that though the story is tragic the love these two men have for each other is truly heart warming.  In a way it is like the movie "Love Valor Compassion". The friendship all the central characters share and the love between the two central couples is enviable. The pallor of years of tragic unloved gay characters still hangs over us and I am always drawn to those for whom love works if even for a while.

Both "America's Sweethearts" and "Shrek" where light comedies, while I would recommend seeing "America's Sweethearts", "Shrek" wins hands down. It was hilarious and well worth seeing several times.

Memento" now that is a whole other kettle of fish. It was one strange movie but I was unable to draw myself away from it. Once I was trapped I was enthralled until the end at which point I went WOW.
Ciao
