| When I woke up Sunday I felt as I almost always do when I have gone out to a gay club or party the night before. Glad that I had gone despite my misgivings, I always have misgivings, but a little blue in having seen all those who have found life partners and seemed so happy. I know that unfortunately with many of those couples it is only an illusion and for others it is a happiness that just hasn't yet gone wrong. Unfortunately our world is one with even a higher divorce rate than straight America. One in which we have not been taught that we can work out our problems as a couple and achieve happiness. We don't have the role models in the world to show us how it is done, we don't have family histories of loving gay couples to use as a guide nor are we surrounded by people or images that depict happy long lasting gay relationships. Despite this knowledge we all hope and aim for finding that one person. The one for whom we can look to be a love and help mate, the one we can depend on in our darkest hour and one whom can depend on us. So with these mixed feelings I got back to work. Doing all the little boring repetitious jobs that always seems needing done around the house. I decided that no matter where I was in the process at 01300 I was going to go over to the park to watch Charles play. He is a good and graceful player and I always enjoy watching him win or lose. I also must admit that when there watching young healthy men sweat and strain shirtless as they play is not hard on the eyes. I got to the park in time to watch him and Alma play their last game they had been at it since 0800 that morning. Neither of them were in good moods as they had not played very well as a team. Both are good singularly or when playing with other partners but seem to work against cross currents when they play together. Every year, near the end of the outdoor season, they swear that they are better friends then partners and will not play together in the next season and by the middle of the next season they have forgotten their resolution and end up in the same place as before. Well we stood around talked and watched others play for a while then headed our separate ways. Charles' friend was still in town from Manhattan but hadn't come to the match. So he was heading back to his place to do some things with him and Alma was just going to head home to get things done in preparation for Monday. I in turn headed back to the house. There was still plenty for me to get done there. Just as I was getting tired of housework and trying to decide what to eat Charles called to say that Darren had headed home and did I want to go for a bite to eat. It wasn't a hard decision to make. Eat my own measly cooking or go out. So as is so often the case the weekend ended with me going out to eat with Charles then coming home sated and more than willing to ignore the rest of the chores until later in the week. Though this time I had a trip to prepare for I still didn't mind and once home called it a day. That's it for now Ciao |
