| Dear Journal, Yesterday there was truly a rare occurrence; I wend out in the middle of the week. There is not that much to tell about it other than it was in celebration of Alma's birthday and for her gift she wanted to get together with several of her friends at a karaoke bar. So Charles, Andy and I joined her and a girlfriend of hers from work at this little place in Overland Park for a karaoki night. There were only two things of note on this night. First was the nature of the invitation. She had stipulated that she didn't want any of us to bring our spouses. That obviously does not effect me but it did effect both Charles and Andy since they are both currently seeing someone. It appears that she didn't want the inevitable conflict that would have occurred if both or either of them brought a date. She was right in that without the extra two guys there we would all get along. The other thing of note was her and Charles' friend Jay whom they play volleyball with. He joined us and was he quite the guy. He isn't traditionally handsome, he has to prominent a nose, (not that I would mind) and he is to thin. But despite those things he is quite attractive. To add to this he has a really great personality. I could see that he is one of those guys whom when they walk into a room all of their friends' faces light up. He just has that effect. He kept our table entertained all evening. Well the others were used to him, really he kept me entertained. The only thing I can say that would detract from him is that he is straight. Now that will not detract in any way when it comes to forming a friendship, but after spending only five minutes with him I could easily have found myself falling for him. At first I didn't realize that he was straight. It was only after I started to find myself enamored with him that someone mentioned something that clued me in. I would say what a waste but the only thing wasteful is that some woman has yet to snap him up. I now know of three straight guys who exhibit all the qualities most desirous amongst my gay friends, and myself in a mate Two of which happen to also exude something that sends most all my gay friends gaydar off as well. They make me understand first hand what women mean when they say "what a waste". Well the evening itself was not extraordinary other than my surprise whenever I go to a straight bar and don't find myself uncomfortable. We had good company, good conversation and when Alma got up to sing good music. All in all a good night, but I was still ready for bed when I got home around midnight. That's it for now ciao |
