There was also I guy there who was over the top. There is usually one in every crowd and for the most part they can be fun. Usually at some point they go to far and he was not an exception.  Our hosts have a small home in a modest neighborhood and we were outside beginning to shoot off the fireworks when we noticed some kids a couple of houses down were also shooting off fireworks.  They finished theirs just as we were starting ours.  I don't know what they said or did but he ended up yelling something along the lines of "... poverty will not be your only problem".  I thought no matter what the provocation that his response was totally unacceptable.

His attitude really pissed me off. It seemed to me to be a case of the haves throwing it into the faces of the have nots.  Since I first came out I have noticed how callous some young gay men can be towards those who have less than they.  These guys often come from middle to upper middle class families and have no empathy for how those less fortunate feel and sometimes treat them like sub humans.

I didn't let that ruin my evening.  I ignored him and continued watching the fireworks and talking to Chris and some other guys who where there.  We ended up calling it a night right after the fireworks ended about 10:00.

All in all it was a nice evening, nothing spectacular but easy and enjoyable.  Those are the kinds of nights I enjoy.
