Lesson # 14138
Well  I am writing this a week after the fact so I will be very short on detail.  At this point all I can remember from two weeks ago is spending the week anticipating going to "Shakespeare in the Park" which was going to be held across the street.  As usual I procrastinated. To my credit I tried to get some things done ahead, but it backfired.  I sent out announcements via e-mal ahead of time so everyone would have time to get ready but what I thought was going to be sent three days early was actually a week early. So I had to send out retractions saying that the e-mail was a week early.  I then forgot to re-send at the right time.  That was just the first problem

Next I took off on Friday to have plenty of time to get organized.  I did spend the morning with Charles (who wasn't even going to be joining us) shopping and getting organized. I then spent the afternoon cooking.  David finally called me to say that he was coming over and that everyone he had hoped would be joining us had either not responded to his invitation or had canceled. When he got there I had yet to shower and so I put him to work finishing up some things and hopped into the shower.  After spending the afternoon slaving over a hot stove the shower felt great and I didn't want to get out.

When I got out I commented on how tired cooking had made me and David said no wonder it was over 90 degrees in my place.  Even though I had had the air running the whole time having the stove on for such a prolonged time had overwhelmed it.  David promptly opened a window in the kitchen  w/ a fan pointed out and turned the air on full blast which sucked the hot air right out.

Just as the place was cooling down Andy showed up.  We three sat down to talk and relax and I  started to tally who all were going to be coming and who all had canceled or I had not heard from. Well guess what.  It was going to be just the three of us for the evening.  I was so relaxed and comfortable that I didn't want to move.  It was about 6:15 and we had planned to be out at the park at 6:30 for the 8:00 show and the temperature was still in the 90's.  I really didn't want to go out in that heat.  So I asked the guys how much they really wanted to see "King Lear"   Well we all decided that we were to tired, to comfortable and to hungry to lug all of the food outside and sit in that heat. End the end we didn't see "King Lear" and we had a great time.  I don't think I have ever spent any time just sitting and talking w/ both Andy and David.  This has been a central part of David's and my friendship from the beginning. When I first met Andy I would never have expected to see him so open and relaxed. We ended up having our picnic dinner on my living room floor and just talking until 10:00.  All in all a much better time than we would have in the heat watch a play we weren't that interested in in the first place. I think we might have been more tempted to brave the hot sun if they had been putting on "As You Like It" that night.

At this point the rest of the weekend is just a blur.  I may write more about it some other time.
