Lesson # 14122
After spending about an hour at home I went back over to Eric's for dinner.  When I first met Eric I didn't know that another studentI spoke to quite often and whom I liked quite a bit was actually his dad.   Bruce had invited me over to his home for dinner several times. After becoming friends with Eric he too had issued an invitation, this was my first opportunity to take them up on it.  so off I went.  Bruce's wife Cindy fixed dinner and Eric's fiancee Ann joined us.  Dinner was good and the conversation was stimulating.  Unfortunately to say that Bruce and I dominated the conversation would be putting it mildly. We pretty much were the conversation.  I would have been perfectly happy spending the evening talking but we ended up watching a couple of movies.  I had also brought my portfolio because Eric said he wanted to see it, but we ended up not looking at it.  It will be sometime before I have a chance to do this again.  I will have to remember to put looking at the porfolio at the top of the list of things to do when I do.  Evenings like this are why I wish I had a dining room of  my own.  I would invite them all over for dinner at my place.  Eric can become quite quit at times and when his dad is around is a prime time for him to clam up.  When you get him alone he can be quite talkative.  We had planned to discuss a number of things and didn't end up getting to any of them.  A chance to have dinner with him and Ann alone would give us an opoortunity to discuss the issues we had planned.

Saturday ended up being a very late night.  I had a number of chores planned for Sunday but the only important thing was lunch with Andy and Lonnie, his new friend from Iowa.  Andy has really been talking him up and  I was really looking forward to meeting him.

Sunday I woke up bright and late at about 9:00.  I was slow to get up and slow to get started.  One of the things I had on my agenda for the day was to cut my hair.  I chore I dislike and put off as long as possible but one I like others doing for me even less. So I got that done and piddled around the house.  Piddleing is something I am quite good at I can waste a couple of hours before I know it.  And guess what, I did.  Before I knew it Andy was on the phone wanting to set lunch.  We have been having lunch on Sundays for a few weeks now and we seem to get later and later but this time he actually wanted to have lunch at noon.  I told him I hadn't had breakfast until ten and that noon would be to early.  We settled on one o'clock on the plaza.

I usually try to be ready ahead of time because I hate to keep people waiting.  lately my timing seems to be off and I am not quite ready when people call.  This time not only was I not ready but just as I was heading out the door I got a phone call.  I apologized and we headed out. Let me say without giving a blow by blow that we had a great lunch.  Lonnie was a delight.  Intelligent, witty handsome and fun.  We laughed and talked for two hours.  Then went window shopping and had even more fun.  Even if he and Andy do not work out as boyfriends he will be a great addition to our circle of friends.

Did I mention he was handsome.  He is about six foot three, one seventy-five brown hair and a great  smile. He has the kind of looks that could define a person if they didn't have a strong personality.  Fortunately he has the personality.  He has told Andy that he is thinking about moving here to KC.  With his personality he will have no problem making friends.
