Lesson # 14129
Dear Journal,

This past weekend was fairly quiet.  I didn't see or hear from either Charles or David.  Both of them have recently been out of town and I have yet to get with them to hear how their trips went.  Charles was just in NYC and David just got back from his annual float trip.  I can't wait to here about their trips and to see the pictures.  Maybe next weekend.
I did go to a movie with Andy on Saturday.  We went and saw "The Patriot" it was very good.  People talk about violence in movies and how we have all become immune to the site of death and distraction but when you watch movies like Private Ryan and this you see the horrors of war with out getting immune to the emotional toll or horror of it all.  Mel Gibson once again rose to the occasion.  The best scenes were where his acting without dialogue got the point across.  I recommend this movie to anyone who likes a good story line and can stomach images of the violence of war.
Andy had some unfinished business to take care of so we parted after the movie and he went home.  He called me later to let me know how things went and after reading for a couple of hours more I went to bed.  He called me again first thing Sunday morning to make a breakfast date We went up to the Corner Cafe. A popular breakfast place where the wait is normally an hour or so but were able to get in right away.  We had a nice long breakfast and conversation and then took a leisurely walk through Westport. Westport if you aren't from Kansas City is our version of Greenwich village, small fun and funky.  I only live a few blocks from this shopping district but almost never go there.  It is only a few blocks from our "Fifth Avenue", the Country Club Plaza, which is closer to me and more to my personal taste.   We finished off the morning by going to the new Kauffman Memorial Garden which as recently opened near by.  It is a truly tranquil and beautiful garden just east of the Nelson Art Gallery.  From there we parted ways and I went home to relax and do some chores.

I remember, when Charles and Andy first broke up, writing how I was afraid that I would loose touch with Andy.  Well my fears were completely unfounded.  We seem to have really bonded since the brake up and we spend a good amount of quality time together.

I got some more good news from my friends Charlie and Alyssa in Michigan, Charlie got a teaching position at a university in Iowa.  This is good because he was hoping for a position closer to or in Missouri because both of their families are here in Missouri. It seems that in just a short period of time they have had three pieces of good new.  First the birth of their second son, then Charlies recieving his Doctorate and now this new position and the possiblilty of buying a new home.  They are truly blessed. And I am truly happy for them.

Today is a nother work day, but this will be a short week for me.  I will be off tuesday for the Forth of July and then will be taking Friday off.  I will be going to King Lear at "Shakespeare in the Park w/ a group of friends and will need to cook something beforehand.
