[CHANGE IN DM]
John: Okay, girls --
Tony: Listen, the first thing we should do, John, I don't know about these guys, but I’m sending word to my place that --
John: How?
Tony: How? Send off some ships that we had in port, in Larry's island.
John: Send some ships from there --
Tony: Yeah, with word that any rumors about my death have been greatly exaggerated.
John: Okay.
Tony: And also what happened to the king, if they don't already know. Second of all I think we should inform, like I told Larry and Geoff, the Iron League, if they don't already know, of what's happened to their neighbor.
John: How are these messages being sent?
Larry: My warships better stay at Highport because we'll probably be attacked pretty soon.
Tony: In that case, could we use magic messenger?
Geoff: I get word to Southland --
Tony: I mean you have it.
Geoff: [?]
Larry: Yeah.
Tony: John, scrap that, I'll use magic messenger to get the word across. Do you want to send a little official condolence to the Great Kingdom?
Geoff: Yeah, our condolences on the death of your king.
Tony: Yeah.
Geoff: We hope you find the culprits.
Tony: As heads of state.
John: Okay, you're in Highport, [?]
Geoff: What do we do with this kid?
Tony: Oh, we have to have a vote on that.
John: Okay. It's up to the players what they want to do with the kid.
Tony: State your case, Geoff.
John: I know moral obligation in a way you know that a lawful good will not --
Tony: That's got nothing to do with it.
John: -- kill the kid. But I've got to say at least one thing about the lawful good thing, is that this kid is part of a family that's known to be mixed in with demons.
Tony: Is that right?
John: And also they worship the god Hextor.
Larry: That's right, that's the temple we were in.
John: So, god knows what that kid is. It could be normal, or there's a very good chance it could be half-demon.
Geoff: You got clerics and stuff.
John: Yeah, we have to go back to the island. For the sages --
Geoff: Where are we now?
John: We're in Highport.
Geoff: Oh, we're still there.
John: Yeah ... we're gonna go to the island and find out all the information: how to destroy the wand --
Geoff: You got no clerics here?
Larry: In Highport? No.
Tony: If we find that the kid's evil --
John: So you all send your messages off in different directions.
Tony: If we find that the kid's evil, I vote we sacrifice him for a good alignment god.
John: Larry, do you send an alert to the island that we're coming, and to brace for an attack?
Larry: Sure.
John: Okay. We'll take the ship, one of your best ships, I guess, and we'll go to the island -- you get to the island without any problems. You hand over the wand to the sages and the clerics. [?] will detect the baby, to see if this kid is natural or not.
Geoff: Do you want to wait until they come up with a verdict?
Geoff: Yeah.
John: It won't take very long ... when you get there, everybody's in a panic, because they didn't know you were coming by ship. Your security is minimum, it's not maximum, as it should have been.
Larry: Hmmm. They didn't get the message to be on the alert.
John: So, basically, we go back to that conference room, we sit down, relax, eat a proper meal, the clerics create a Heroes Feast, so your wounds are healed, and also, women will be around if anybody's interested in that. In the evening, we're still discussing, we're waiting for word from the clerics, and the bell rings. Rapidly. What do you do?
Chris: Look out the window.
John: It's nighttime.
Chris: So, whatever the guard can see, I can see.
Larry: If anything's happening on the docks, you can see it, cause they're lit up.
John: It's not on the docks, it's within 200 feet. You hear guys screaming, you hear massive stuff going on outside.
Anthony: Grab our weapons and head out.
Chris: How high are we off the ground, from this window?
Larry: 60, 70 feet.
Geoff: Well, I guess it's too high to jump.
John: Everybody's going to go out in one area, they're not going to go, boom, all over the place?
Larry: Yeah, we gotta get out of the palace.
Chris: Well, let's see what the area looks like.
John: I have no idea what the area looks like.
Tony: Can you bring people with you [?], if you had to?
John: I always thought it was just one plain building.
Andrew: Why don't we just go to the front door? Wait for people to come in?
Tony: We need time to talk, we should do that.
Larry: What it looks like: it's a very tiny bay, with a village surrounding it, with docks.
John: Yeah, but the room, we're in now, it's attached to the palace, or it's a separate building?
Larry: It's inside the palace.
John: Is it upstairs or downstairs?
Larry: Top.
John: How many flights of stairs?
Larry: Third floor.
John: Okay, we travel down the stairs, Larry, you have a hall, like an entranceway --
Larry: Uh-huh.
John: A very big one?
Anthony: Close all the lights inside the place.
Larry: Ummm, yeah.
John: Okay. As you're coming down the stairs, the doors bust open --
Tony: Oh, Christ.
John: -- you see 2 guys, 1 has an old uniform of the Sea Princes, an admiral, and all you see is this Great Kingdom flag [on the end of a spear] go through an elf, and he takes the thing and he chucks it at the stairs.
Geoff: Catch it.
Larry: Armor class.
John: Your dexterity, roll.
Geoff: I'm a monk.
John: I don't care, it wasn't aimed at him.
Geoff: Oh it wasn't? I'll try and catch it anyway ... I caught it. Turn around, throw it back at him.
John: Whoa, hang on. Initiative.
Chris: 4.
John: 4. Same time.
Larry: What's his armor class?
John: Okay, all these guys are -9.
Chris: What?
Anthony: -9?
Tony: All these guys?
John: All these guys. You see these 2 guys advance in and you see 3 more.
Geoff: What plus is the spear?
John: It's a +3 spear. It's a polearm. It's a flag, it's 12 feet long.
Geoff: There's a flag on it?
John: A Great Kingdom flag.
Geoff: I take it off.
John: It will take some time; you don't have time.
Geoff: [?]
John: Take half of the attacks you have.
Geoff: I only got one attack.
John: Now, there's 5 guys, 3 of them are wearing Great Kingdom uniforms, one's wearing a Sea Prince uniform, and another guy, from the Scarlet Brotherhood --
Chris: Scarlet Brotherhood? I go after this bag of shit.
Tony: What is [?]
Chris: I go after the Scarlet Brotherhood guy, okay?
Tony: We're upstairs, or at the bottom of the stairs, is that the way it stands?
John: I’ll give you that you're at the bottom of the stairs.
Tony: We're with them?
John: Uh-huh.
Tony: Oh you're giving us that, are you?
John: You're in with them, now.
Tony: I would have preferred to stay at the top and pick them off with arrows, but anyway ... as a matter of fact, that is what I'm doing.
Geoff: John, what's the damage on this polearm?
John: Damage on the polearm is 3-18 [?] --
Tony: I'm assuming I restringed that bow.
John: Yeah, yes, I will give it to you.
Tony: Thanks.
Geoff: 29.
Larry: The guy that hit --
John: On --
Geoff: The flag is not on there -- same guy that threw it.
John: Okay.
Larry: John, the guy that hit the elf, 166.
Anthony: Jesus Christ.
Tony: Haste spell on me, doubles the attacks.
John: Okay.
Chris: How much?
Anthony: 166.
Chris: With what?
Larry: Bow.
Anthony: 20 on one guy, John, 20.
John: On any guy?
Anthony: Random.
John: I’ll give you -- just remember, it's the guy with the whip.
Anthony: Good.
Tony: A whip. Hey, we don't care [?]
Chris: 125 on the Scarlet Brotherhood guy, my second attack was [?]
Andrew: 23 on the guy, the Scarlet Brotherhood.
[?]: what?
Chris: 125, and the second attack was a decapitation attack.
Andrew: Scarlet Brotherhood, 24, and he's on fire.
John: Okay, everybody in the room --
Tony: Hang on a see --
John: -- make a saying throw versus spells.
Tony: -- hey, I didn't get my damage in, will you give me a break?
Larry: Yes, I made it.
John: You made it? 36 points of damage. Everybody make their save?
Geoff: Yeah. Is it a [?] attack or anything like that?
John: No, it's a fireball spell.
