WATERFALL

Willamette National Forest, Oregon

A stream that flows over the edge of a cliff.  A large, dramatic waterfall that plunges down from a high, overhanging precipice is a cataract.  A small, splashing waterfall that tumbles down a mountain side in a series of steps is a cascade.  Salt Creek Falls is an example of a cataract.
