Established in 1929, the Sharon Church of the Nazarene set out to win souls for Christ. As a new venture, the church began in a store front in Sharon, Pennsylvania. When the church began to grow, the Pastor and his congregation decided they needed something more practical to accommodate the growing numbers. In 1948, the church moved to Ohio Street. It prospered in that location for many years before setting out on a new journey.
Wanting to be more centrally located, the Pastor, church board, and congregation decided to step out on faith. They began looking for land to build a new church and that is when God took over. He led them to "the perfect" location and even provided some finances to get started. The process had begun! Once the building was started, many of the men in the church decided to lend a helping hand in the building process. Because of their hard work and dedication, the church was completed in 1990. Knowing that God's plan for the church had been carried out, the church received a new name, Gentle Shepherd Church of the Nazarene. Gentle Shepherd has been located in Hermitage, Pennsylvania at 3480 Shenango Valley Freeway for over thirteen years. The church continues to seek God's will and is winning souls for Christ. It has set out to provide a home for lost souls and for those who seek and hunger for God's Word!
