PROLOGUE: "And so it Begins."

The seven children, soon to be Digi-Destined stare at the strange digital devices which land in their hands. Scant minutes afterwards, the seven children vanish, and appear at the beginning of their newest adventure.

Back on Earth, the snow subsides, but the wind blows hard against the boy climbing the path to the log cabin. Genn Eroshenko, sometimes called Genn Kamiya trudges through the knee-deep snow and lowers his goggles over his eyes. Tai's "twin" scans the horizon with narrowed eyes. "That's funny," Genn says frowning. "I would've sworn I heard Tai and the others crying out." Genn smiles and bonks himself on the head. "Too many horror movies Eroshenko. Too many!" Genn approaches the now-abandoned log cabin and knocks on the door. "Tai? Yama? Koushiro? Teek? Sora? Mimi? Joe? ANYONE?" Genn frowns again as he enters the cabin. "That's odd. It's not like Taichi to run off without me along. Oh well, I guess they'll be back soon." Genn says as he locates Tai's stuff and throws himself on Tai's bunk. Genn grins thinking on all the times he and Tai had gotten into trouble. "It's too bad Kari couldn't come." Genn reflects as he stares at the eighth empty bunk. "I'm sure she'll be fine by the time camp's over." Genn sighs and begins to rummage through Tai's pack. It's a good thing Tai and I are best friends, Genn thinks. Ah there is it! Genn smiles as he pulls out Tai's CD Player and turns it on listening to one of the CD's Tai had brought along. Outside the wind continues to howl and the snow resumes falling heavily. Genn turns up the heat in the cabin and looks out the window. "Man. Tai you'd better come back soon…" Genn says quietly.

CHAPTER ONE: "Return to Highton View Terrace."

Four months later and too many adventures (Digi-World Time)

30 minutes (Earth Time) Later…

Genn was just about to doze off to the sound of Tai's music, when the door burst open and a gust of snow and cold wind jolted Genn awake. Sitting up too quickly, Genn bumps his head on the bunk above and rubs his injured head. Genn pushes his goggles up onto his headband and looks at the man standing in the door. His teacher. Mr. Fujiyama.

Unfortunately, Mr. Fuji had known Tai and Genn too long to be confused by their twin appearances and for summer camp, twin wardrobes. "Genn? What are you doing here? Do you know where the others are?" Mr. Fujiyama asks. Genn shakes his head. "No, Mr. Fujiyama. I came here…um…" Genn looks at his watch. "30 minutes ago, they were gone when I came and haven't returned yet." Genn says as he shuts off the CD Player. Mr. Fujiyama looks concerned. "Summer camp's been cancelled Genn. Go back to your cabin and get packed. The bus leaves in 20 minutes, I'll look for Tai and the others." Genn nods and rushes back to his cabin, more worried than ever. In less than a minute, Genn's gear is packed up again. He didn't have time to unpack most of his stuff. Shouldering his gear Genn returns to Tai's cabin and waits for the others. I wonder where they've been? Genn wonders to himself.

Simultaneously…

"…and that's why we think littering is crazy! Right gang?" Taichi Kamiya asks the others. A chorus of nods and "innocent" smiles follows. Mr. Fujiyama stares at the kids and nods. "Well hurry up and get packed. Summer camp has been cancelled. We're all heading back to the city." Mr. Fujiyama says as he walks off. Koromon frowns. "I'd like to pack his gear and throw him in the garbage." Tai grins. "Well, at least you won't be littering. C'mon guys lets go!" Tai says as he leaps through the snow to the log cabin.

Opening the door to the cabin, Tai barges in. "IT'S GOOD TO BE HOME!" Tai yells then blushes when he sees the figure laying on his bunk. A figure identical to his own. Oh man. Genn. What do I tell him? Should I tell him the truth? Could he handle it? Then joy kicks in. "GENN! It's good to see you!" Tai says happily as he hugs his best friend, sandwiching Koromon between them. Genn smiles. "Hey Tai. Where the heck were you guys? I was getting worried. And why are you hugging me like you haven't seen me in ages?" Tai gets instantly serious at Genn's questions. "We…uh…we went hiking and got lost." Genn narrows his eyes. "Uh…huh." Why are you lying to me Taichi? We've known each other for years. I can see right through you…Shaking off those thoughts, Genn looks down at the pink thing in Tai's arms. "What's this?" Genn asks as he rubs one of Koro's ears.

Koro sighs happily in contentment when Tai defensively jerks away. "He's nothing…erm. I mean we found them on the trail. Someone just left them lying there." Genn frowns. Another lie Taichi? What is so important that you'd lie to me? You never have before…Tai smiles and sweats in the awkward silence. Genn breaks it frostily. "Well. I have some things to pack. See you all on the bus." Genn says as he coldly brushes by Tai and leaves the cabin.

Tai wipes the sweat off his forehead and turns to the others. "Think he bought it?" Tai asks hopefully. Matt starts packing up his stuff. "No way Tai. It sounded so lame even I wouldn't have believed you." Tai flushes angrily. "Well it wasn't easy for me to lie to my best friend, OK Matt? Besides I didn't see you coming up with any bright ideas." Tai says as he begins packing up his stuff noting that Genn probably borrowed his CD Player again. Izzy frowns. "I wonder how much time has gone by since we got sucked into the Digi-World." Izzy ponders. Sora finishes her packing and starts helping Mimi to pack her gear. "Worry about that later guys…We have to do and the bus leaves in seven minutes." Joe begins to panic. "Oh no!! We'll never make it! What if we miss the bus? What are you going to do? How will we find the Eighth Child? Beat Myotismon? This is giving me a headache!" Gomamon pats Joe on the shoulder. "Don't worry Joe, we'll make sure they wait for you. And we'll find the Eighth Child in plenty of time." Gomamon smiles reassuringly. Koromon looks up at Tai. "Tai? Who was that boy? How come he looks like you? Why didn't I meet him last time I was here?" Koromon asks, always full of questions.

Tai sits down on his bunk trying to figure out how best to answer the questions. "He's my best friend Koromon. Genn Eroshenko." Tai pauses. "Though he spends so much time at our place he prefers being called Genn Kamiya. You didn't meet him because he was at Summer Camp." Izzy, now finished packing, joins the conversation. "He's also very smart Koromon. He's even an upper-classman like Joe and myself. He has a nifty palm computer too." Sora also joins in. "Yeah, and Genn's the Captain of the soccer team Tai and I are on. He's also a great imitator of people's voices. Given enough time, Genn can imitate anyone and…" Sora's words were interrupted by the loud horn of the buses. Tai jumps to his feet, picking up Koromon and his gear. "Wait for us! We're coming!" Tai yells.

As they wait to board the bus, Genn tries to approach Tai again, to heal the rift that seemed to have sprung up between them. But all Tai wanted to do was talk to the other six children in his cabin. How odd. Genn thinks. Tai and Matt working together? I thought they hated each other. Genn watches Mimi run over to join her friends then steps behind T.K.. "Hi T.K.." Genn begins lamely. T.K. jumps and turns. "Hiya Genn." Genn holds a finger to his lips and hands T.K. a candy, making sure Matt isn't looking. Secretly, Genn and T.K. had been friends for awhile to, due to well-placed candies every now and then. T.K. nods and stuffs the candy in his mouth. "Thanks Genn." "No prob Teek. Say T.K., what are Tai and the others talking about over there?" Genn looks over at Tai and Joe who seem to be talking to Mr. Fujiyama and the bus driver. T.K. chews thoughtfully on the candy. "Oh. Stuff. Grown-up stuff I mean. I don't understand too much of it." Just then Matt notices Genn talking with his little brother. "T.K. Stop bothering Genn. I'm sure he has a lot of stuff to do before we leave. RIGHT Genn?" Matt stares at Genn, blue eyes daring Genn to stay. "Uh. Sure Yama. See you later Teek." Genn says walking away from the Digi-Destined.

Matt waits until Genn is out of earshot. "Whew that was close lil bro. What did he want anyway?" T.K. looks at Matt. "He just wanted to know what Tai and Joe were talking about. I'm worried Matt. Izzy was right. He's smart. Do you think he can figure out the truth?" T.K. asks looking at his big brother. Matt sighs and places a hand on T.K.'s shoulder. "I don't know lil brother. I kinda hope Genn does find out the truth. It would be a shame for such close friends to break up." Matt says looking at Genn's receding back. "Come on T.K. Time to board the bus."

On the bus…

Genn Eroshenko was in a foul mood all the way back to the city. Tai had decided to sit with Izzy. Another oddity. What did I do? Why is Tai being so distant? Genn frets. "No. It's just one of the old ones we all hate…" Genn hears Joe's voice filter through the bus. Hmm…I wonder what's up. Genn wonders as he cranes his neck to see what's going on. Genn sees Mr. Fujiyama holding an odd-looking device. A quick glance told Genn that all the kids who were in Tai's cabin had one. Even little T.K.. Genn's eyes narrow. The plot thickens, Genn thinks. I wonder what's going…on…Genn falls asleep, tired from staying up late talking with Tai the night before. Less than a day ago we were best friends. What happened?

Later…

Genn jolts awake as he feels the bus stop. Genn stares out the window. This isn't Odaiba…it's…Genn studies the landmarks. Highton View Terrace where Tai and I used to live. Why are we stopping here? Oh no. Genn looks shocked as Matt and T.K. get off the bus, then Sora and Izzy, Mimi and Joe, and…TAI! Genn grabs Tai's arm without even thinking about it. Tai looks back at his look-alike. "What Genn?" Tai asks somewhat impatiently. 'What's going on Tai?!?! You can tell me! We always tell each other everything!" Genn cries in frustration. Tai stares. "Nothing's going on. Alright?" "Well let me get my stuff and I'll come with…" Tai shrugs out of the older boys grip. "NO GENN!" Tai virtually yells out, then blushes as the entire bus stares at him. "No Genn." Tai repeats quietly, crushed by the look on Genn's face. "Sorry. I'll see you later OK?" Tai quickly jumps off the bus, unable to face that betrayed look anymore. I'm sorry Genn. I'll make it up to you. I promise. Please don't hate me. Tai sighs as the bus carries his best friend away. "Tai?" Izzy's voice interrupts. Tai puts on a false smile. "OK everyone let's go!" Tai says. Please wait and trust me Genn. I'll…"OOF!" Tai says as he lands in an undignified heap on the ground. Koromon bounces over. "Are you OK Tai?" the head asks his Digi-Partner. "Oof." Tai says brushing off his shirt. "I'm fine buddy. What happened?" Tai asks confused. Koromon looks at Tai worriedly. "You tripped over me Tai. Are you sure you're alright?" Tai once again put on his leadership face, hiding the vulnerable boy beneath. "`Course I'm alright. Now. Let's go!" The kids do a tour of Highton View Terrace and eventually encounter one of Myotismon's goons, Mammothmon. Biyomon is forced to digivolve into Garudamon to defeat him. After that, the kids run away from the authorities and then remember they'd all seen a Digimon battle a long time ago. Izzy suggested that that was why they were the Digi-Destined. After this realization, the group once again resumes their trek home to Odaiba…
