| It was a morning all the same Getting out of bed, a game Monday came with normal trial Of many problems fresh to file Trudged forth to heed the call of work The mundane and gray mixed all in murk And after hours whittled by You lounge back in your seat and sigh A newspaper near, you take a look Missing sections other people took But the headline caught your eye "Satelite crashes from the sky" And you discover as you read Not 20 miles occurred this deed With this news did your interest perk Yet now the time to get back to work The traffic strangely extra thick Your return home, it was not quick For dinner you dined at your house An evening spent quiet as a mouse The T.V. on to pass the night Monday wore you with its might Four more days would make you weep So you let it wash with sleep Tuesday morning just the same Claiming more of Monday's fame But as you start your morning drive Much strangeness near does spring alive Empty cars upon the street People flee with panicked feet Chased by others close behind Puzzles now your groggy mind The people running caught at last The chasers on them holding fast Upon their flesh they start to eat A feast on limbs of human meat With horror you gasp to yourself Pity these strangers and their health Hope now rests in you alone As you reach for your cell phone Driving now you look ahead Many bodies lay as dead And these crazy people they do dine Intestines outside intertwine Through havoc you begin to drive Around corpses now you must strive The numbers that you try to dial Have you holding all the while With frustration you keep on trying As more and more around are dying Suddenly off to your side Comes barreling a truck most wide Smashes right into your car And sends you tumbling much afar Darkness comes, you close your eyes And drift away as one who dies |
