Bridget rode a horse to school and because a relative had died crossing the creek. Margaret had been warned not to go near that section. When her father discovered she was disobeying she was sent to boarding school to the Mercy Convent in Wodonga. She was reprimanded for climbing a tree in the convent garden.
Bridget was called Mary at school. After completing the Leaving Certificate she accepted a position as a subsidised teacher (one that was paid by the families who employed them). As Dean she lived and taught at "Boxvale", Marsden Rd Grenfell owned by Harry and Believe Hancock who had six children. Bridget taught in a one room 'should house' made of pise (rammed earth) not far from the main house.
Bridget's courtship with Ernest would have been at tennis parties, dances, cricket matches and gatherings at homes. Ernest had a car and Bridget once put it in reverse while Ernest was driving.

When married lived on a farm Broadrib at Eskdale, Vic. On the same farm lived Josiah's mother and aunt, both wh spoilt Brigett Margaret mary. Her father gave her the nickname Dean.
Josia was a wonderfull horseman and taught his daughter to ride at an early age.
Married at St Patricks Church, Albury. The officiating minister was father Patrick Hartigan who was the well known poet John O'Brien.
