Notes
General:
John and his wife Bridget arrived in Australia aboard the ship Garland in 1851. Theyu went to Peppers Creek, Rockley to Bridget's brother's (Thomas Cullen) place.
Mr McPhillamany soon employed john at Reedy Creek where they raised their family. Stock ownres at that time, because there were few fences and the discovery of gold, atendant with it's rogues, conatantly advertised stock lost and stolen. John was no exception as the Bathurst Free Press reported in June 1856.

"Feeney of Pepper's Creek had his horses stray"
As it turned out that was the least of John's problems. On 30 August 1863
Bridget died in childbirth. Informant on death certificate Samuel Anderson of
Bathurst Hospital.
John was born in county sligo Ireland in 1826 He grew up around Glen Killamy and probably knew Bridget Cullen and her family. In this Glen it was said that nearley 900 families lived loved laughed cryed married and died. At the time John was born times were tough, the English really didn't care much for the irish, especially these irish, as they mostley only spoke Gaelic (Irish) language. Families lived from year to year, relying on the Potato crop. they grew them during spring and had to live off what they made during winter.
