IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN, I Lucretia Burnett of the Parish of South Farnham and County of Essex, widow, being of sick and weak of body, but of sound mind and perfect memory, praise be given to the almighty GOD for the same and calling to remembrance incertain estate of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield unto death when it shall please GOD, do make constitute and appoint this my last Will and Testament. In manner,form, revolking and annulling by these presents all and every testament or wills by me here to fore made declared either by word or deed and this be taken only for my last will and testament, no other, first being sorry from the bottom of my heart for my sins past. Most humbly desiring forgiveness for ye same I give and constitute my soul unto the almighty GOD, My savior and redeemor in whom by all merits, Jesus Christ. I truse and believe assuredly to be sound and to have full remissions and forgiveness for all my sins and that my soul at the general day of resurrection shall rise again with joy and through merits of Christs death and passion poses. And enjoy kingdom of heaven prepared for his elect chosen and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such a decent christian manner as to my executor hereafter named shall be thought meet and convient. And now for the settling of my worldy estate and such goods and chattels and debts as it hath pleased God far above my ----- to bestow on me. I order give and dispose in form following that is to say first; I will that all debts and duties that I owe in right or conscience to any manner of person or persons whatsoever shall be will and truly contented and paid or ordained to be paid within convient time after my decease, by my executor hereafter named, I give and bequeath unto my eldest son, John Burnett, 2 pewter dishes, 2 of my hammered plates and one of my tankards, my table, my largest roan colored ox, my sorrell mare, branded "B" and 3 ells of fine linen. I give unto my son, John Burnett one shilling sterling money. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sara Bell, 3 pewter basins, 2 tin milk pans, and my brass kettle, my 2 smallest pots and hooks belonging to them and hangers and my copper sauce pans and brass skillets, my pewter chamber pot,and 2 pewter tankards, my best frying pan, 1 box of iron and the heaters, 2 wheat sifters and a meal sifter, 1 flock bed and bolster, my 2 worst rugs and 4 of my wearing blankets and 1 set of my smallest linsay woolsey curtains, also my canvas bed- I also give unto my daughter Sara Bell, all my ready made clothes, as gowns, petticoats, shoes, stockings, etc, but none of these clothes that formerly belonged to my daughter Phebe Burnett. I also give and bequeath to my said daughter Sara Bell, 1 new holland shift also 10 ells of fine linen, also my great red ox and 1 cow called "Cherry" and her yearling, also my pigs and shotes, be they more or less except my largest Barrow hogg, also my black mare called "Binney", also my indian corn and meat that I have provided for this years provision. I also give to my daughter Sara Bell and her husband Thomas Bell, all the debts that either or both of them owes me, whether it be money, tobacco or anything else. I frankly give and forgive them the said debts. I give and bequeath to my daughter Sara Bell one shilling sterling money. I give and bequeath to my daughter in law, Amy Burnett my tamerine gown, peticoat, my muslin headdress with the narrow lace and yellow top knot, one new fine shift, one new fine apron and handkerchief, and 1 pair of sleeves. I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Mary Curran, my domask gown and 7 yards of stiff for peticoat, 1 pair of paragon bodies that were formerly my daughter Phebe's, 1 muslin apron and sleeves, 1 new holland shift, 1 laced handkerchief, 1 headdress and blackhood with a yellow top knot, also 1 pair of laced shoes. I give and bequeath to my grandson Charlie Burnett, 1 shilling sterling silver. I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Lucrece Bell, one 3 yr heifer called "Pink" and all her female increase, the male increase until my foresaid granddaughter comes of age to fall her mother Sara Bell. Also one whole suit of decent parrel. I lastly give and bequeath all the rest of my estate whatsoever in goods, chattels and debts and legacies are apid to my son Thomas Burnett Jr, my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament and my desire is that my estate be not brought to appraisement. In witness, I have here unto inter changably set my hand and affixed my seal, this seventeenth day of June Ammo Domini 1709. my trusty and well beloved wife Sara Bell of the same, my attorney to sue for such debts, rents and lands are as due to unto her and for such lands as she or her childern is now in danger or shall hereafter be in danger to loose. /s/ Thomas Bell, WITNESS: Joseph Baker, John Torbutt, John (J) Keener. 1709- Her mother Lucrecia Burnett wrote her will leaving her daughter Sara a large selection of goods, plus a years provision and clothes and all the debts that either Sara or her husband owed her. And some "decent apparel" to her granddaughter Lucreace Bell

Thomas and Jane Burnett did speak, publish, and declare against Sara Bell false and scandalous and malicious words by ye damage of 100 pounds of current money of Virginia. Thomas Bell and wife Sara declare that Jane Burnett did speak false words; "She is a damned whore- had a child and she burnt one half out and the house piggs ate the other half. My husband saved her from the gallows once for burning her bastard and from a whipping post another time to which the defendants pleaded not guilty and put themselves upon the county.
