THE REASON for this website is simply this: the process of changing ones gender is a surgical proceedure.
HOWEVER, in certain countries an organization called the HENRY BENJAMIN INTERNATIONAL GENDER DYSPHORIA ASSOCIATION (HBIGDA)attempts to control the pre-operative transgender/transexual for personal gain. The longer they can drag the process out, the more money they make.
These 'gender professionals', whether they be counselors, therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, endocrinologists, whatever, have concocted a series of obstacles for the pre-op TG (transgender) to jump over in order to acheive his or her dream of changing gender.
Based on my personal experience and the experiences of the MANY other pre- and post-op TG'S, as well as documentary evidences, the process under the HBIGDA 'system' can cost upwards of $25,000 (mostly more) and take 2 to 8 years.
All of this is to 'qualify' YOU as a 'suitable candidate' for a relatively simple and quick surgical proceedure.

Much of the expense I mentioned before is from the money a pre-op pays to those 'gender pros'. The operation itself is a small part of the total cost.
For my own part, I was aware of my true sex at the age of 3. I knew, even then, I was not made right. I was not even aware of the difference, I just knew I was in the wrong body. At the age of 5 (I was rather advanced for my age), I learned about CHRISTINE JORGENSEN, the WOMAN WHO USED TO BE A MAN!
Around 8, I actually learned what the physical difference was, and at 9 what the differences meant (how they went together to make babies). All of this information confirmed, absolutely, that I was a girl in a boy's body!
In my own mind, I veiwed that 'thing' as a birth defect (like a harelip of sorts), and my goal was to remove it.
I dressed in my female clothing, and entered the HGIDGA system. After a frustrating month or two in which I learned the true time and cost required, I left the system, and, 3 months later returned to the U.S. as a woman. I spent $7000. Unfortunately, the system cost me $4000 (before I got wise to it) and I took my Mother along, (she is 86), and THAT brought the total to around $20,000!
But having it to do over, I can say MY WAY is 3 months and $7000. Ask me for details via e-mAIL.....
