Speaking of price, the $5000 I paid included not only the surgery, but the hospital stay, the hotel afterwards, and transportation. Quite a deal, and even nicer was the fact my mother, who went with me, was allowed to stay in the hospital with me, and later, in the hotel, at no additional charge.
Strange as it may sound, I have always liked girls. Never have had a man, before or after the operation. In fact, I am a lesbian. The girlfriend from before is the girlfriend after. She adapted to the new me.

A final thought: with the advances in mapping the human genome, they can now actually, so I understand, determine which gene controls sexual orientation (straight or gay). So, logically, they will soon be able to determine gender orientation, and if the body you were born into is a match to your mental self-image.
Now, consider that alcoholism used to be listed as a mental disorder. Today, science has proven it is not.
So, years ago, alcoholism was no longer considered a mental disorder.
Today, the International Gender Dysphoria Association makes alot of money based on 'treating' gender dyphoria.
Well, what will they do when gender orientation is no longer a mental disorder?
All I can say is, they better not quit their day jobs.......
