Transylvanian Tuesdays
Transylvanian Tuesdays - Michael Gelman is looking to start up a new group to teach Romanian & Hungarian folk dances of Transylvania, mostly couple's dances, such as: Mezosegi, Szekely, Kalotasegi, Mihesu de Cimpie, De a Lungul, Invirtita.
With line, circle and solo dances about 25% of the time, such as: Bihor, Matura, Hora dela Petrechioaia, Mocaneasca, Verbunk, Legenyes, Ponturi, Floricia Otleneasca.
This is not a performing group, but we may do some small events in the future. As the title implies the meeting night will be on Tuesdays starting at 8pm until about 10:30pm.
What we need besides more dancers is a place to meet. I live in Columbia, MD and some of our already interested dancers live in northern VA. So, I would like to find a place on the north side of the DC, in Maryland, close to the beltway, anywhere between Bethesda and Greenbelt. The community center in Greenbelt is great but too expensive. I believe this area would be central to most people.
