NEWS:
7-30-01: Even longer since I’ve updated the
news section – sorry. Actually I have
no idea if anyone reads this or if anyone cares. But I won’t let that stop me -(7/6/04: actually it did stop me since i haven't updated this site in 2 years - sorry)J. Summer is
upon us and we are
all doing well. Trevor is very
interested in learning how to swim. As
well as going to the public pool on weekends, we enrolled him in swimming
lessons. Simon is keen on riding the ‘Razor’
and soccer. He has a really impressive
kick! I did end up buying that new car
(VW Passat - photo) –
now I have to figure out a way to pay for it.
We are looking forward to future vacation plans including a trip to
England in September; the boys will get to visit their Great-Grandparents and a
trip to New Orleans in October; the boys will be left with their Grandparents. Anyway, here goes a quick update on the last
few months:
7-28-01: In a
personal challenge against 2 afflictions; Diabetes, which I’ve had for 8 years
this July, and Age, which I’ve had for 35 years this July, My
brother-in-law, Matthew, and I traveled up to Oregon to participate in the
annual Summit-2-Surf bike ride. This is
a 50+mile ride over Mt Hood and is a huge fund-raiser for the American Diabetes
Association. The date also coincided with
the Oregon Brewer’s Fest in Portland so we were able to adequately medicate our
sore muscles. See photos here.
This could turn out to be an annual event,
so contact me if you want to join the fun next year.
7-4-01: Fourth of
July (photos)
5-12-01: Camping in
the Pinnacles. See photos
5-4-01: Few to Texas
for my Dad’s surprise 60th day party. This was a great time as all the family was together and we spent the
weekend hanging-out, swimming, and eating bar-b-q. Our Dad didn’t know we were all coming in - On our arrival Friday
night we hid Simon & Trevor in a large box and left them in the living room
while we hid in the house. They jumped
out to surprise their Grandfather. The
actual party on Saturday night was fun – especially the dance floor!
4-13-01: Easter in
Colorado Springs. Karen & the boys
went out for 1.5 weeks and I joined them for Easter weekend. The boys played with their cousins (including
a massive egg hunt) and my Father-in-law cooked a tasty and diverse menu (Egg
Drop soup to Prime Rib)
3-14-01: Long time since I've updated this
page. Things have been a little hectic at work as the economic slowdown
continues to hit us hard. Our stock is down below $30 (from $75 last
summer) and we've cut salary raises by 1/2. See the car I fancied on
1/3/01 . . . I'm back to roller-skates. But I have been having some fun
with digital video - see the video section
1-16-01: We had a fun weekend visit with my
parents. They flew in on Saturday night and stayed until Tuesday.
They showered their grandkids with gifts (see new
scooters) and drank the Buena
Vista dry. See other photos.
1-9-01: First day of school for the boys (see photos). Simon
& Trevor did fine - Mom still needs to work on it!
1-3-01: Happy New Year! We had a great
holiday. Karen's birthday celebration dinner on Friday 12/22, Christmas
Eve dinner at the Gerlach's, Christmas morning at our house, Christmas dinner
at Lisa's house - Crabs in Carmel Valley! I took (most of) the week off
between Christmas & New Years. For New Year's Eve we hosted a wine
tasting party with friends and stained carpet :) I almost brought a car .
. . I thought I could find a year-end deal but I had a different definition of
"deal" than the car dealer. But I had fun test driving the VW Passat and Volvo S60.
12-19-00: We had a fun weekend trip to
Portland. Stayed with Karen's cousin - the Malloys. It was nice to get back
there and sample the good beer.
Christmas plans are still be worked out between the sisters - we may have to
ask the Supreme Court to decide! Tomorrow is Karen's birthday - dinner
celebration (w/o kids) planned for Friday night!
12-5-00: We're getting ready for
Christmas! We cut down our 9ft+ tree last weekend and have been adding
decorations through out the week. As you can imagine there is a
congestion of decorations on the lower 3ft of the tree as our little helpers
don't reach too far up. We are planning on spending Christmas here in
California - splitting events such as Christmas Eve, Christmas morning,
Christmas dinner, and boxing day between ourselves and Karen's sisters. I
try not to get too involved in the logistics!
