Sept 15, 2003:. CASTLES IN THE MIST
So, the beautiful energy asked me the other day if I had seen any castles when I was on exchange, and I have decided to write an entire entry on it. It may take a while as I forgot to buy batteries for my mouse so I have a little difficulty doing all this with keyboard only!
I saw several castles whilst I was on exchange, though I didn't take that many photographs. My damn camera was stolen by some nasty Norweigan NATO fellas. Or it could have been the Swedes. I will do a page of exchange/castle photos when I get the batteries.
The castle that I got the most photos of was Leeds Castle. I loved the gardens, they were not only HUGE and beautiful, but as we were there it was raining and there was a mist everywhere.
The castle itself however was a little dissapointing as it is still used at times so it was a little too touristy for my liking. I remember that Cameo and myself skipped on through, looked, enjoyed and then went outside for a smoke. I did prefer the garden.
I am going to shamefully put a picture of mysrelf in there, unfortunatly I look truely shoocking as it was so damned cold that I was wearing a long skirt, a short skirt and a pair of pants with several jumpers and jackets it was so damned cold.
There is one castle that I remember I don't think I have any photos of. It doesn't help that I don't remember the name, nor the location of it. I dare say that it was a Hungarian Castle as it was in ruins (no offense to them, in fact it is all the better as it shows the history of the catle as opposed to a prefered history), I remember standing at the top of a bell tower, cold weather, rain and looking over a winding river.
As I stood there I realized that at some point in history someone stood there and watching the approaching army coming to conquer them. That this castle has seen the growth and the destruction of a country, several wars and probably a thousand love stories.
It was all so romantic, and I wish that I could remember where it was.
And for now I am going to lay down because the doctor has given me some super strong painkillers that just dope me up. And I ahve begun the low carb thing again for sure (hell, I succeeded in walking past cheap pizza and chocolate cake without giving in) and I am going to watch neighbours. Cheerio people.
