- Personal: Widowed, two children, boy and girl and seven Grandsons. I was involved in Civil War re-enacting both Federal and Confederate for 9 years prior to becoming involved with WWII. I am currently in the process of restoring a Russian DPNR motorcycle/sidecar.

- Pers�nlich: In 1917 I volunteered for the Luftschifftruppe. I was injured parachuting from a burning ballon and was posted to an anti-aircraft batallion on the Eastern Front. When the war ended I became a member of the Friekorps.
I eventually returned to Heer Schiffert in Dresden but was bored. In 1939 I joined the Wachtruppe des Heeres (Guard Unit of the Army) which later became �Infanterie (mot) �Gro�deutschland�.
Our Motto is: God, Honor, Fatherland
I was surrenderd to the Americans in 1945, and was a pow in San Antonio, Texas.
After the war, I remained in the United States and became a citizen in 1947. I then went to California and worked for the head of costume design at MGM movie studios.
