In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Homer Maxwell Mongold, Jr. on Dec 31, 1993; three brothers, Samuel Mongold, William Mongold and John Mongold; two sisters, Hazel Mongold and Imogene Buckley. Mr Mongold was retired from the Department of Natural Resources with 41 years of service. He was a veteran and served in the United States Army during World War II. He is a member of American Legion Post #78. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Pauline M (Sites) Mongold, whom he married on July 29, 1947; two sons, Ronnie W Mongold, Fort Ashby; Larry S Mongold, Romney; one daughter, Sandra L Mongold, Franklin; one brother, Earl W "Bub" Mongold, Broadway, Va; two sisters, Ruby Getz, Fort Ashby, Mildred Riggleman, Cabins; half-sister, Mary Ann Hileman, Cabins; 6 grandchildren, Scottie S Mongold and Jeremy A Mongold, Maysville; Randy L Mongold, Brandywine, Kevin W Mongold, Jonathan L Mongold, and Miranda C Mongold, Petersburg; three great-grandchildren, Kaylie B Mongold, Tara H Mongold and Dillion S Mongold, all of Maysville; several neices and nephews. | Glenn W. Martin, 80 of Petersburg, WV Grant County, died Friday February 25, 2000 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Virginia. Born October 30, 1919 in Scherr, WV, he was the son of the late Irvin Martin and Essie (Evans) Martin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death y two sisters, Lena Martin and Beulah Hodges. Mr. Martin was a farmer and worked at the Petersburg Tannery and U.S. Forest Service. He was a resident of the Hampshire Care Center since February 1999. Surviving are two sons, Charles W. Martin, Romney, WV, and Keith W. Martin, Cabins WV; one daughter, Ruby M. Eldridge, Luray Virginia; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Haven Martin of Antioch, WV. | Mrs. Myrtle L. (Tiny) Michael 61 of Antioch Route, New creek died this morning, June 19, 1978 at her residence. Born at Martin September 23, 1916, she was the daughter of the late James and Lulie (Rotruck) Leatherman. She was a member of the Ridge Dunkard Brethren Church. Surviving are one son, Walter A. Michael of Moorefield; two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice House of Rawlings, Maryland and Mrs. Dorothy Hughes of Antioch; two brothers, Herbert A. Leatherman and Odell W. Leatherman of Antioch and six grandchildren. Her age was eighty-three years, five months and four days. For several years she had been a member of the Church of the Brethren. Surviving Mrs. Mongold are seven children, John Mongold, of Dovesville, Nathaniel Mongold, of Mathias, W. Va., James Mongold, of Fulks Run, A. C. Mongold, of Bridgewater; Ashby Mongold of near Dovesville; David Mongold of Luke, Md., and one daughter, Mrs. Amanda Whetzel, of Cumberland, Md. She also leaves forty grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. He had been living at the E. A. Hawse Nursing Home at Baker since October. Mr. Mongold was born July, 1893, in Mathias and was a son of the late John Ward and Rachel Dove Mongold. He was a retired sawmill operator and farmer and an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Mathias Church of the Brethren and the Mathias Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. In 1918, he married the former Maggie Whetzel, who died August 24, 1975.
