Marvin Leon Kline, 69, Arthur, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mr. Kline was born Sept. 29, 1931, in Maysville and was the son of the late Robert Kline and Edna Keplinger Kline.

He retired from Advantage Foods, where he worked in the maintenance department, and was a drywall hanger and plasterer for many years. He was a member of Grove Street United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Arlene Riggleman Kline; two sons, Tony Kline, Maysville and Steven Kline, Arthur; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

The Rev. Richard Longbon conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was at Kline Cemetery, Upper Tract.

Viola Marie Kisamore, 69, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mrs. Kisamore was born June 19, 1931, at Mouth of Seneca and was a daughter of the late Dillion Amos Turner and Catherine Teany Sites Turner.

She was employed at the Petersburg Sewing Factors of Corners United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Burl Kisamore, two daughters, Mary Frances Guyton and Nancy Lee Kile, both of Petersburg; a son, Chester Lee Goldizen, Manassas, VA; a sister, Arvella Mae Goldizen, Maysville; a brother, Norman Paul Turner, Petersburg; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Michael Lee Goldizen.

The Revs. Stanley Kile and Joseph Gerstell conducted the funeral at 1 p.m. Dec. 27 at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was at South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg.

Harding Dewitt "Dee" Ketterman, 80, Petersburg, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mr. Ketterman was born May 21, 1921, in Masonville and was a son of the late George Benjamin Ketterman and Sallie Virginia Belle Parker Ketterman.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a retired truck driver for Dettinburn Trucking Company.

His wife, Mary Caterine Reel Ketterman, died Nov. 23, 1990.

He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Jean Kimble, Upper Tract, and Wanda Lee Ketterman, Petersburg, two sons, Don Williams Ketterman, Petersburg, and James Dee Ketterman, Maysville; a sister Fannie Whetzel, cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas; two brothers, Virgil Ketterman, Maysville, and Keith Monroe Ketterman, Petersburg; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The Revs. Bruce Cosner and Calvin Redman conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was at Brake Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Dorcas.

Betty Jane Champ Kimble, 55, Petersburg, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001 at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD.

Mrs. Kimble was born July 28, 1946, in Smoke Hole and was a daughter of Roxie May Champ Shirk of Franklin and the late John Melvin Camp.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Gerald W. Kimble; two sons, Richard Paul Phares and Melvin Russell Kimble, both of Petersburg, a step-son, Gerald W. Kimble, Jr., Durgon; a daughter, Andrea Marshall, Moorefield; five brothers, David Shirk, Dorcas, Jack Edward Shirk and Carl Shirk, both of Upper Tract, Dale Shirk, Franklin, and Olie Shirk, Moorefield,; six grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

Pastor Calvin S. Redman conducted the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg. Burial was at the Champ family cemetery in Smoke Hole.

Ralph C. Kesner, 73, Charleston, and formerly of Petersburg, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at his residence in Charleston.

Mr. Kesner was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Pansy and was a son of the late Lester D. Kesner and Glenna (Judy) Kesner.

He formerly owned Fort Hill Exxon for over 45 years in Petersburg. He also formerly owned the Exxon Station in Franklin and Moorefield, and Chevron in Petersburg. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Petersburg.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Wanda J. (Mongold) Kesner; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Shobe of Petersburg, two sons, Brandley Kesner of Roanoke, VA, and Brent Kesner of Charleston; two daughters, Kimberly kesner of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Nicki Kesner Burgess of Charleston; one sister, Jean Sites of Petersburg; one brother, Paul Kesner of Petersburg; and four grandchildren, Harrison Kesner, Allyson Burgess, Haley Kesner and Ryan Burgess.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Kesner.

A memorial service was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Grace Lutheran Church, Petersburg with the Rev. Larry M. Cantu and Rev. John Mendez, officiating.

Bertha Frances (Riggleman) Kuykendall, 60, Milam, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mrs. Kuykendall was born Jan. 18, 1941, in Burlington and was the daughter of the late James B. Riggleman and Mandy (Moyers) Riggleman.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Zion United Methodist Church; and a member of the Peru CEOS Club for 29 years.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Harlan Kuykendall of Milam; one daughter, Jackie Alt of Petersburg; one son, Mark Kuykendall of Milam; two sisters, Anna K. Bosley and Verda Davy, both of Burlington; five brothers, Glen Riggleman and Raymond Riggleman, both of Keyser, Earl Riggleman of Frostburg, MD, and Carl Riggleman and Luther Riggleman, both of Burlington; and two grandchildren, Morgan Alt of Petersburg and Marcus Kuykendall of Milam.

Pastor Denny Shoemaker and Pastor Shyrl Smith conducted the funeral at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Elmore Chambers Funeral Home in Moorefield. Burial followed at the Kuykendall family cemetery in Milam.

Evers "Eb" Clinton Kimble, 49, of Arthur, died Wednesday, April 22, 1987 at Grant Memorial Hospital
Born May 28, 1937 in Pendleton County, he was the son of Edna Jane (Landis) Kimble of Arthur and the late Leslie B. Kimble.
Mr. Kimble was an employee at American Woodmark of Moorefield.
Surviving are his wife, Wilma Joan (Crites) Kimble; one son, Clinton Kimble at home; two daughters, Eileen Dayton of Petersburg, Lorie Kimble, at home; three sisters, Lois VanMeter of Cabins, Juanita Evans of Maysville and Phyllis Jane Sites of Dorcas; six brothers, Curtis Kimble of Upper Tract, Ora (Bill) Kimble of Petersburg, Dewey Kimble of Maysville, Paul Kimble and Wayne Kimble, both of Arthur; and James Kimble of Maysville.
Services were conducted at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel Saturday morning with the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment was in the Critestown Cemetery at Rig.

Logan Michael Kessel, 12 of near Williamsport, WV died Saturday, April 01,1999 at his residence.

Born April 17, 1987, in Petersburg, he was the son of Michael Edward and Brenda Lee (Clark) Kessel of near Williamsport, WV

He was a seventh grader at Petersburg High School.  He was a member of 4-H, Patterson Creek Ruritan Club and Maysville Church of Christ.  He was an assistant coach for Petersburg Motor Company�s little league team.

Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Shannon Kessel and Lindsey Kessel, both of near Williamsport, one brother, Cameron of near Williamsport, grandparents, Joe and Betty (Bobo) Clark of Maysville, WV, A. E. Mike Kessel of Near Williamsport, and Phyllis Cessna of Martinsburg, WV, great-grandparents, Overton and Mary (Keplinger) Bobo of Maysville, Leo and Lettie Sites of Dorcas and Alice W. Kessel of near Williamsport, WV and several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Family will receive friends (today) Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m. at Bassagie Funeral Home, Petersburg.

Funeral services are Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gene Kessel, the Rev. Greg Bland and the Rev. Overton Bobo officiating.  Interment will be in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.

Richard E. Kessel, 53 of 1065 Florida Avenue, Keyser, WV, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Maryland.

Born on June 08, 1949, at Petersburg, WV, he was a son of the late Dorsey R. and Elinor (Evans) Kessel.

Mr. Kessel was employed by Kessel Lumber Company, Keyser.  He was a 1967 graduate of Keyser High School and attended Potomac State College.  active in a pool league for many years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports. he attended the Rivers of Life Christian Center, Keyser, formerly in McCoole, Maryland.

Surviving is his former wife, Marlene (McDonald) Kessel of Piedmont; four children, Shayla Marie Kessel of Salisbury, Maryland, Samantha Lynn Kessel of Piedmont, WV,  Melissa Ann Galbraith of Morgantown, WV, and Michael D. Galbriath of Piedmont; one brother, Lawrence R. Kessel of Cumberland, Maryland; two sisters, Elaine Rotruck and husband Lawrence of New Creek, WV and Karen Hott of Keyser, WV.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. 

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Thursday from 6-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Patrick Brett officiating.

rthur Edward �Mike� Kessel, 69, died Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at his residence of Williamsport, WV.

Mr. Kessel was born on November 21, 1931 in Scherr, WV.  He was the son of Alice M. (Wolfe) Kessel and the late Arthur E. Kessel of Petersburg, WV.  Alice M. Kessel is currently a resident of the Grant County nursing Home. 

Mr. Kessel graduated from Petersburg high school and attended Potomac State College, Keyser, WV.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 78 and Potomac Highlands, WV post 6454.

He was a lifetime farmer.  He was a Grant County Commissioner for three terms and served on the board of directors of the Grant County Nursing Home.  He was a charter member and vice president of the Patterson Creek Ruritan Club and was a board member of the Region 8 Planning and Development council.  He formerly served on the Grant County Airport Authority and the Grant Memorial Hospital Board of Directors ASCS committee.

He was preceded in death by 3 half brothers, Lynn Kessel, Leon Kessel & Dorsey Kessel; one grandson, Logan Michael Kessel.

Surviving is his mother, Alice M. Kessel  & Phyllis K. Cessna of Martinsburg, WV mother of his children, Maris Kessel Clark and husband Lysle of Williamsport, WV, Michael E. Kessel and wife, Brenda of Williamsport, WV Todd A. Kessel and wife Becky of Williamsport, WV; six grandchildren, Shannon Kessel, Lindsey M. Kessel, Tara M. Clark, Kevin R. Clark, Cameron L. Kessel, and Shayla L. Kessel, two brothers, L. Keith Wolfe, Petersburg, WV and Harold J. �Donnie� Kessel of Williamsport, WV, one great granddaughter, Sydney Elizabeth Beach.

Walter L. Kline, 57 died at his home in Keyser, early Saturday morning after an illness of several months.

He was born in Maysville, the son of the late James and Emma Schell Kline. He was an honorary member of the American Legion.

Surviving besides his widow, Mrs. Ida J. Rotruck Kline, are four children, Mrs. Winfred Kline, Martinsburg, Paul Kline, Edinburg, Virginia, Thorace Kline, Lee�s Summit, MO, Mrs. Nellie Harris, Martin; one step son, Forrest Rotruck, Keyser; six brothers, Clarence Kline, Petersburg, Lester Kline, Hanging Rock, Herbert Kline, Independence, Robert Joseph and Benjamin Kline of Maysville; and one sister, Mrs. Katherine Hanlin of Mt. Storm.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Maysville church with the Rev. Lowell R. Rogers, officiating.  The Rev. Shanholtz of Wiley Ford, assisted.  Interment was in the Maysville cemetery. 

Mrss Winfred Kline has returned to her home 222 West Race Street after attending the services.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Pallbearers were Leroy Sionaker, Albert Rudy, Charles Knadler, Dayton Butts, Woodrow Hough and Irvin Batt.

Mrs. Olive F. Kline, 77 of 816 Maryland Avenue, Martinsburg, WV died at her home at 3 p.m.  Tuesday, August 16, 1966.    She had been ill since February. 

A member of the Brethren Church at Broadway, Virginia, she was born at Scherr, March 10, 1889, daughter of Walter and Martha Hays Reed.

Surviving are two sons, Paul Kline, Tuescaroca, and Thoris Kline, Independence, MO; one daughter, Mrs. Winfred Kline ; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. Calvin S. Harden, Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

Otis William Keplinger, 77, of Maysville, WV, died Sunday, March 21, 1999 at Grant Memorial Hospital.

Born April 17, 1921, in Maysville, he was the son of the late Jefferson O. and Mary Catherine (Keplinger) Keplinger.  He was also preceded in death by four brothers: Herbert B. Keplinger, March 03, Fred W. Keplinger, July 09, 1998: Martin Keplinger and John Keplinger; three sisters, infant Ruth H. Keplinger, infant Lucy B. Keplinger and Grace Keplinger Weese.

Mr. Keplinger was a foreman of the Petersburg Tannery and worked for Kessel Lumber Company.  He was a custodian for Maysville Elementary School and retired in 1993.  He was a charter member of Maysville Volunteer Fire Company and attended the Maysville Bible Brethren Church.  He was a volunteer at the Grant County Nursing Home and Burlington Children�s Home Apple Harvest Festival.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline Alice (Sears) Keplinger whom he married June 26, 1942; one son, Paul Keplinger of Maysville; three daughters, Geraldine Smith of Maysville, Barbara Harris of New Creek and Betty Whetzel of Arthur; three sisters, Nettie A. Secrist of Petersburg, Mary V. Bobo of Maysville and Alice G. Keplinger of Petersburg; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Maysville Volunteer Fire Company conducted services Monday evening at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg. 

Funeral services are today, (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Steve Raines officiating.  Interment will be in the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville.

Garland B.�Sonny� Kitzmiller Jr., 57, of Mt. Storm, died Saturday March 20, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

Born May 08, 1941, in Cumberland, Maryland, he was the son of the late Garland B. and Mildred V. (Moreland) Kitzmiller Sr.

Mr. Kitzmiller was a 1961 graduate of Bayard High School.  He was a self-employed farmer and bus driver for Union Education Complex, Grant County Board of Education, for 21 years.  He was a member of the Mt. Storm Volunteer fire department. 

He is survived by three cousins; Carol Kitzmiller and Ronnie Kitzmiller both of Mt. Storm and Laurie (Kitzmiller) Hartman of Chesapeake, Virginia; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were Monday afternoon, at the Mt. Storm United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Shelba Sisler and the Rev. Ivan Ackerman officiating.  Interment was in the Mt. Storm Cemetery, Mt. Storm.

Nellie Carmen Keller, 71, of Fisher, died Sunday, April 4, 1999 at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.

Born October 11, 1927, in Hardy County, she was the daughter of the late Anton Matthew Keller and Trixanna (Vance) Keller.  She was also preceded in death by an invalid aunt whom she took care of for many years.

Miss Keller was a longtime member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church and a charter member and historian of the Riverside Homemakers Club.

She is survived by one brother, Robert A. Keller of Fisher; one sister, Phyllis Michael of Petersburg; and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were Wednesday morning, at the Elmore-Chambers Funeral Home chapel, Moorefield, with the rev. Ted Osgood officiating.  Interment was in the Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield.

Theodore Jess Kessel, 78 of Maysville, died Monday, February 08, 1999 at his home.

Born December 12,1920, at Scherr, he was the son of the late Edward O. and Emma (Patch) Kessel.  He was also preceded in death by one brother, Otis Kessel; four sisters, infant Ollie Kessel, Ethel Kessel, Lula Sites and Helen Buckbee.

Mr. Kessel was a truck driver for Shawnee Mills and a farmer. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist church, Maysville and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosalie E. (Moreland) Kessel, whom he married April 05, 1942; two sons, Eugene V. Kessel and Jariet T. Kessel, both of Maysville; one daughter, Nancy K. Reel of Scherr; two brothers, Robert T. Kessel of Scherr and Ohley C. Kessel of Maysville; one sister, Opal Smith of Petersburg; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several  nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Wednesday morning at the Otterbein United Methodist Church with the Rev. French Smith and the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating.  Interment was in the Kessel Family Cemetery at Maysville.  Military graveside rites were accorded by VFW Post 6454 Honor Guard.  Grandson LCPL Shannon Reel presented the American flag to his grandmother.

Lester Emory �Ted� Keplinger, 70, of Maysville died Wednesday September 27, 2000, at the home of his daughter, Gail and Gary Mowery, Maysville, after a brief illness with cancer.

Born April 01, 1930 in Maysville, he was the son of the late William C. and Alice E. (VanMeter) Keplinger.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Ida �Peggy� (High) Keplinger, March 08, 1993; one infant daughter; four brothers, Paul Keplinger, Emmett Keplinger, Ezra Keplinger and Charles Keplinger, one sister, May Helmick; and one infant granddaughter.

Mr. Keplinger was a logger, mechanic, avid hunter and gardener.  He was a member of the Petersburg Church of God.

Besides his daughter, Gail, he is survived by one son, Donald Keplinger and wife, Brenda of Maysville; four daughters, Bonnie Parsons and husband, Clark, Brenda Lyons and husband, Mike, Darlene Nazelrodt and husband, Richard and Lisa Hawk and husband, Scott, all of Maysville; one sister, Sarah Cook of Maysville; one brother, Floyd Keplinger of Kingwood; and 13 grandchildren, Amy Parsons, J. W. Lyons, Coy, Chelsy and Caleb Nazelrodt, Brian and Eric Keplinger, Shane, Ethan and Taylor Mowery and Lindsay, Brittany and Shelby Hawk. 

Funeral services were Friday afternoon at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with the Rev. Ernest C. Pennington and the Rev. Daniel B. Baker officiating.  Interment was in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville.

Benjamin Stickley Kline.92, of Maysville, died Wednesday, November 11, 1998 at Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, where he had resided since December 30, 1993.

Born Sept 27, 1906, in Maysville, he was the son of the late James Edward and Emma (Schell) Kline.  On November 29, 1929, he married Delsie Elizabeth (McDonald) Kline who preceded him in death, July 05, 1973.  He was also preceded in death my three daughters, infant Carol Lee Kline, Shirley Y. Craver and Bonnie D. Keplinger; eight brothers, Joseph E. Kline, Charles H. Kline, Harry L. Kline, Walter L. Kline, Clarence E. Kline, George Herbert Kline, James Lester Kline and Robert T. Kline; two sisters, infant Wilda Kline and Anna Catherine Hanlin; and two grandsons, infant Jared Lee Strawderman and Jerry w. Keplinger.  He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Kline raised chickens and worked for the late Wardney A. Veach. He sharpened hand and crosscut saws and was a well-known carpenter.

He is survived by two daughters, Betty J. Stawderman and her husband, Paul, of Maysville, and Martya Doyle and her husband, Elmer of Rineyville, KY; son in law, teddy H. Keplinger of Maysville; 10 grandchildren, Paula Walters, Vanessa Strawderman, Donald Strawderman, Kevin Craver, Brian Craver, Lisa Cyrus, Terry Doyle, Jay Keplinger, Randy Keplinger and Terry Keplinger; one step granddaughter, Amanda Louie; and 21 great grandchildren, Selena, Jennifer, K.C., Kristina, Mary and Samantha Meador, Brandon Keplinger, Heather Keplinger, Amber, Benjamin, Sierra and John Ryan Keplinger.

Funeral services were Saturday morning at Maysville United Methodist Church, Maysville, with the Revs French Smith and Stanley Kile officiating.  Interment was in the Maysville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Maysville United Methodist Church.

Elinor E. Kessel, 72 of 1065 Florida Avenue, Keyser died Monday February 28, 1994 at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Born June 08, 1921 at Arthur, WV, she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Nellie V. (Foley) Evans.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey R. Kessel on October 08, 1970 and by one brother, Solie Gene Evans.

Mrs. Kessel attended the Mount Zion Church on Knobley Road, Keyser and was a member of the Women of the Moose, Lodge 662, Keyser.

Surviving are two sons, Lawrence Kessel of Cumberland and Richard Kessel of Keyser; two daughters, Elaine Rotruck and husband Lawrence of New Creek, WV and Karen Hott of Keyser; one brother, Joe Evans of Killen. AL; one sister Betty Jordan of Fullerton, CA; one foster sister, Virginia Fico of Anaheim, CA; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Mamie Keplinger, 87, of Maysville, died Friday, June 15, 1984 at Grant Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 13, 1896 in Hardy County, she was a daughter of the late John H. Park and Laura Dell (Swisher) Park. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar B. Keplinger, May 20, 1970. Also preceding her in death were one brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Keplinger was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church at Needmore and attended Mount Hebron United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Kline Gap Homemakers Club and the American Legion Post 78 Auxiliary.

She is survived by one son, O. Vernon Keplinger, Maysville; six daughters, Mrs. Lurene Bridgen, Williamson, NC; Mrs. Maxine Feaster, Petersburg; Mrs. Verna Dell Rupert, Lanham, MD; Mrs. Rhea Smith, Baltimore, MD; Mrs. Mary Feaster, Ridgeley; Mrs. Mildred Feaster, Rock Hill, SC; one sister, Mrs. Ila Judy, Maysville; one brother, Karl Park, Cabins; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Schaeffer Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Saturday. Services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel by the Rev. Stanley Kile. Interment will follow in the Maysville Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Mount Hebron United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor�s choice.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Gregory Keplinger, Michael Feaster, Bradley Rupert and Terry Feaster.

Maynard Franklin Keplinger, 83, of Jordan Run, died Sept. 17, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.
Born Oct. 13, 1921, in Jordan Run, he was the son of the late Edgar G. Keplinger and Nellie (Barger) Keplinger. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, infant Emory Forrest Keplinger, Vernon G. Keplinger and Virgil F. Keplinger.
He is survived by one sister, Effie L. Hesse of Maysville; one brother, Loney M. Keplinger Sr. of Maysville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral serviceswere Sept 20., at the Jordan Run Church, with interment in Keplinger Family Cemetery, Jordan Run.
Memorials may be made to the Jordan Run Union Church or Grant County Nursing Home.

Wayne E. �Keppie� Keplinger, 75, of 182 C Street, Keyser, .Va., went to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, October 30, 2005, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. He courageously battled cancer for the last nine years.

Born June 28, 1930, in Maysville, W.Va., he was a son of the late Jeff L. and Evelyn (Clark) Keplinger.

Mr. Keplinger was a 1947 graduate of Petersburg High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served four years at Bamey AFB, Puerto Rico, as an airframe repairman on B36 bomber planes. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was a Korean War Veteran.

In March, 1955, Wayne was hired at Westvaco as a broke hustler on No. 6 & 7 paper machines. He then moved up to No. 9 paper machine as a papermaker, where he retired in January, 1993 with 38 years of service. He was an active member of the Keyser Church of the Brethren; a member of Boyce Houser Post 41, American Legion and Davis Lodge 51 AF & AM.

Wayne was an avid hunter, fisherman and anticipated fall hunting season so he could enjoy the majestic beauty of the colorful leaves ablaze on the mountain, and the peace and tranquility of walking through the woods.

He leaves us his life's lesson that strong will and persistent determination can truly help one survive and overcome obstacles that seem impossible to defeat.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 51 years, Dorothy �Dotty� (Lewis) Keplinger; his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Kim Keplinger, of Keyser; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and E. Kieffer Hess, Jr., of Morgantown, W.Va.; and five grandchildren, Kendra and Kendall Keplinger, Ryan, Cory and Kyle Hess; a brother, Wendell Keplinger; a sister, Phyllis Cosner and husband, Wes; a brother-in-law Roger Lewis and wife, Carole, all of Petersburg; and a sister-in-law, Juanita Martin and husband, Leonard, of Moorefield, W.Va.

He is also survived by eight nephews and three nieces.

Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. with the Rev Dwight Ramsey officiating.

Interment will follow in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, W.Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Potomac Valley Hospice, 167 S. Mineral Street, Keyser, WV 26726, or Keyser Church of the Brethren, 150 S. Main Street, Keyser, WV 26726.

Helen Arbutus Keplinger, age 90, of Petersburg, W.Va., died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at the Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg.

Born July 1, 1914, in Scherr, W.Va., the daughter of the late Samuel Secrist and Bertha (Evans) Amtower.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Audrey Cosner Metz, and one brother, Calvin Cosner. She was the last member of her immediate family. She was Brethren by faith.

  Survivors include three sons, Ralph Keplinger, Roger Keplinger and Richard Keplinger, all of Maysville, W.Va.; two daughters, Mary Amtower of New Creek and Irene Smith of Maysville; eight grandchildren, Vernon Amtower, Margaret "Maggie Judy, Richard Amtower, Brenda High, Lori Crites, Eugene Keplinger, Teresa Keplinger and Vicki Hudgins; six great-grandchildren, Melissa Cook, Colton McLean, Cody McLean, Jeremy Crites, Ashley Kesner and Parker Hudgins; and four great-great-grandchildren, Sonya, Brett and twins, Troy and Trey Cook.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, the Rev. Stephen B. Landis officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.

Miss Alice Gertrude Keplinger, 84, of Petersburg and formerly of Maysville, died Nov. 4, 2001,  at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, where she had resided since April 6, 1987.
Born Oct. 19, 1917, in Maysville, she was the daughter of the late Jefferson Otterbein and Mary Catherine (Keplinger) Keplnger.

She is survived by two sisters, Nettie K. Secrist of Petersburg and Mary V. Bobo of Maysville and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Turner Keplinger, 92, of Baltimore, Md., and formerly of Maysville, W.Va., died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.

Mrs. Keplinger was born March 26, 1913, in Maysville, and was a daughter of the late Gabriel Turner and Emma Goldizen Turner.

She was a member of Mount Hebron United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Martin Keplinger, preceded her in death in 1955.

Survivors include a son, Carl "Hobie" Keplinger; two daughters, Nola Murray and Shirley Spurlin; a sister, Flossie Rohrbaugh, all of Baltimore; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Stanley Kile will conduct a graveside service 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Maysville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va.

Mrs. Marie M. (Berg) Kay, 69, of Ripley, formerly of Grant County, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 1985

Born August 1916, she was a daughter of the later Walter Berg and Laura (Barger) Berg. She was preceded in death by two sons.

She is survived by seven sons, Richard, Walter, Ralph, Ronald and Donald, all of Ripley, Delbert of Staats Mills; three daughters, Mrs. Louise Rhodes and Mrs. Fonda Watts, both of Ripley, Mrs. Beverly Bauch of Manassas, VA; three brothers, Austin Berg, Ebert Berg and Foster Berg, all of Maysville; four sisters, Mrs. Velma Goldizen and Mrs. Hazel Heavener, both of Maysville, and Mrs. Allie Rohrbaugh of Mt. Storm; 36 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Raymond Skeens officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley.

Keith McKinley Kile, 63, of Upper Tract, died Saturday, September 10, 1994  at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA.

Born June 29, 1931, at Upper Tract, he was the son of the late Eston M. and Lucinda Edith (Kimble) Kile. He was also preceded in death by one daughter and one brother.

Mr. Kile had worked for Sites Chevrolet in Franklin, driven a school bus for Pendleton County Schools for 22 years, and had operated the Main Street Texaco in Franklin for 17 years until his retirement due to his health.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion, the South Branch Ruritan Club, Pendleton County Retired School Personnel Association, Upper Tract United Methodist Church, and a charter member of the South Branch Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Lois (Clauze) Kile, whom he married November 26, 1955; two sons, Steve Kile and Brad Kile, both of Upper Tract; one daughter, Nancy Propst of Brandywine; three brothers, Harlan Kile and Bunis Kile of Upper Tract, and Reginald Kile of Woodbridge, VA; five sisters, Kathaleen Simmons of Ft. Seybert, Evelyn Kesner of Dayton, VA and Mildred Kimble, Maxine Mowery and Shirley Kile, all of Upper Tract; and one granddaughter, Kellie Kile of Upper Tract.

Funeral services will be today (Tuesday) at 2pm at the Kimble Funeral Home chapel, Franklin, with the Rev. Edgar Null and the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment will be in the Cherry Hill Cemetery, Upper Tract.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin Sports Boosters Club, c/o Leo Slusher, or the Pendleton County Rescue Squad, c/o Paul Mallow.
