Ebert S Berg, 78, of Maysville, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at his home.
Born June 21, 1922 in Jordan Run, he was the son of the late Walter Samuel Berg and Laura (Barger) Berg.  He also was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, two grandsons, three sisters; and one brother.
    Mr Berg was a farmer and a carpenter.  He was a member of the  Bethel Pentecostal Church, Petersburg.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Irene G (Alt) Berg; five sons, Jack Berg and Delmer R Berg, both of Petersburg, the Rev Lyle W Berg, Sr., Rusty Berg and Danny Berg all of Maysville; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velma Goldizen and Hazel Heavner, both of Maysville; two brothers, Austin Berg, Maysville and Foster Berg of the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be held at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
    Services will be held at the Cabins Assembly of God Church because of the renovation of his home church, Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev Paul Markee and the Rev Wendell Everett officiating.
    Burial will be in the Berg Family Cemetery, Jordan Run.

V. Virginia (Hawk) Bosley, 88, of Peidmont, died Thursday, March 08, 2001 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born October 11, 1912 in Scherr, WV, she was the daughter of the late Albert Nebraska Hawk and Sadie Pearl (Idleman) Hawk. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Dave Bosley, three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Bosley was Presbyterian by faith.

She worked for Westvaco and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Bosley is survived by one son, David Bosley and wife Betty, Peidmont; one daughter, Nancy Virts and husband Larry, Keyser three brothers Jess Hawk and wife Dora Lee, Scherr, William Hawk, Scherr, and Kermit Hawk and wife Polly, New Creek, one sister Carol Nicol, Scherr; three grandchildren, Robin Turner and husband Bob, Westernport, Maryland, David Bosley Jr., Westernport, and Larry Virts, Keyser, one Great granddaughter Kelly Leat, Romney; two great grandsons, Jimmy Gentry Jr. Westernport and Timmy Tunrer, Westernport; one great great grandson, Dustin Hunter Lear, Romney.

Friends may call at the Fredlock Funeral Home from noon to 1 p.m. today.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Gary Morris officiating.

Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery.

K. Blaine Burgess, 82, formerly of Flintstone and residing at Cumberland Arms, 10 N. Liberty St., Cumberland, died Friday, March 15, 2002, at Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 20, 1919, in Maysville, W.Va., he was son of the late Isaac Burgess and Nellie Wilda (Reed) Burgess. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Mae Burgess, Jan. 25, 1986.

Mr. Burgess was a retired dock clerk at Stroehmann�s Bakery. He was a member of Glendale Church of the Brethren, U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Fort Cumberland Post 13 American Legion. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by two sons, C. Dale Burgess Sr. and wife Linda, Flintstone, and Roy Wayne Boggs and wife Rosalie, Little Orleans; one daughter, Mary Louise Johnson and husband Mick, Dayton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at noon with the Rev. Benny Brakeall, Rev. Glenn Jones and Rev. Paul E. Dietz officiating.

Interment will be in Boggs and Champ Cemetery, Mouth of Seneca, W.Va. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home on Monday, immediately following the service.

Pallbearers will be Carl Burgess, Terry Boggs, Greg Rinker, Sean Gillaspie, Raymond Gephart, and John Aman.

Leon T. Burgess, 82, of Knobley Road, Martin, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born on May 7, 1918, in Maysville, he was a son of the late Edgar and Pearl (Rexrode) Burgess. He also was preceded in death by a son, Gary E. Burgess Sr.; and a brother, Haven Burgess.

Mr. Burgess was a retired die setter with the Continental Can Company in Baltimore, Md., with 26 years of service. He was a member of the Knobley Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are his wife, Mary E. (Hanlin) Burgess; one son, Frank L. Burgess and wife Patricia A., Owings Mills, Md; one additional daughter-in-law, Karen L. Burgess, Baltimore; two sisters, Helen Harris, New Creek, and Maxine V. Rotruck, New Creek; five grandchildren, Frank L. Burgess Jr., Michael W. Burgess, Mandi L. Burgess, Gary E. Burgess Jr., and Ronnie Burgess; and three great-grandchildren, Brent M. Burgess, Brandon L. Burgess and Thomas J. Burgess.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Knobley Church of the Brethren on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Roger Leatherman officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the Knobley Memorial Gardens, Martin.

Mary Catherine Burgess, 58, of New Creek, died on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, Md.

Born March 10, 1941, in Cabins, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Hetty (Carr) Reel. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Self in August, 1968; one son, Charles Edward Self; and two brothers, Branson Reel and Robert Reel.

Mrs. Burgess was a homemaker aid for the Mineral County Committee on Aging, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Keyser.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth R. Burgess; two sons, John E. Self, Warrenton, Va., and Phillip Tracy Self, Culpeper, Va.; two daughters, Patricia Smith, Keyser, and Ellen K. Brown, North Wilkesboro, N.C.; one stepson, Donald R. Burgess, Mount Storm; two stepdaughters, Donna Burgess, Cabins, and Sue Alt, Upper Tract; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, William Reel, Cold Brook, N.Y., Edgar Reel, Moorefield, and David Reel, Baker; and two sisters, Annie Sheppard, Cold Brook, N.Y., and Dorothy Sites, Moorefield.

Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the President Casey Ritz officiating.

Interment will be in the Burgess Cemetery, New Creek.

Bessie Mae Berg, age 89, of Maysville, died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at her home.

Born Feb. 5, 1909, in Laneville, she was the daughter of the late Asa H. and Mary Elizabeth (Keplinger) Weimer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit F. Berg, on Dec. 20, 1979; two infant sons, Otha K. Berg and John Edward Berg; an infant daughter, Arlena Mae Berg; an infant granddaughter, DeAnn Fouts; an infant sister; three sisters; three brothers.

Mrs. Berg was a member of the Jordan Run Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are three sons, Robert O. Berg and Ronald P. Berg, both of Maysville, Ralph F. Berg, Richmond, Va.; six daughters, Jean Rohrbaugh and Virginia Goldizen, both of Maysville, Ann Fouts, Luthersville, Md., Naomi Shaffer, Erma Moyers and Ruth Smith, all of Maysville; one brother, Paul Weimer, Gormania, Md.; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Jordan Run Church of the Brethren on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Pastor John R. Moyers, the Rev. Paul Donaldson, and Ralph F. Berg officiating.

Interment will be in the Kermit Berg Family Cemetery at Maysville.

Charles Roosevelt Burgess, 91, of Maysville, died Sunday, Feb. 12,1995, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.
Born March 10, 1903, at Maysville, he was the son of the late Christopher Columbus Burgess and Martha Jane (Martin) Burgess. He was also preceded in death by one infant son; two infant daughters; one brother, Isaac Burgess; four sisters, Lottie Rexroad, Lucy Crites, Otie Smith, and Delphia Teter; and one grandson, Danny Kimble.
Mr. Burgess was a retired timberman and was a member of the Maysville Bible Brethren Church. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel (Mongold) Burgess, whom he married March 6, 1925; two sons, Ronald E. Burgess and Donald L. Burgess of Maysville; four daughters, Goldie Berg, Maysville, Frances Hinton, Savage, Md., Lois Jean Cloer, Statesville, N.C., and Judy Kimble of Lahmansville; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services are today (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with Pastor Steve Raines officiating. Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery at Lahmansville.

Esta Mae Berg, 78, died Thursday May 8,1986 at the Winchester Memorial Hospital, Winchester, Va.

Born June 4, 1907 at Hopeville, Va., she was the daughter of the late William Turner and Sarah (Reel) Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Berg, Sr. in 1953 and two brothers.

Surviving are two sons, Jasper Berg, Jr., Stephenson, Va., and Henry Berg, Winchester, Va.; three daughters, Evelyn Warner, Winchester, Ruth Rexrode, Stephenson, and Mernie Ridgeway, Colonial Heights, Va.; one brother, Otho Turner, Petersburg; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 11 at the Omps Funeral Home chapel with the Rev Robert Brookover officiating.

Interment was in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Willie (Sis) Bobo, 79, died Thursday, Aug 23, 1981 in Grant Memorial Hospital.

A native of Grant County, she was a daughter of the late Lucy Mongold.

Surviving are a son, James Mongold, Petersburg; three half-sisters and three half-brothers.

Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Arnold Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Myers Kimmel officiating. Interment was in Newhouse Cemetery, Rig.

Clarence C. Berg, 77,of Petersburg died Thursday, June 4, 1981 in Grant Memorial Hospital.

Born May 17, 1904 in Grant County, he was a son of the late Benjamin Berg and Lelia (Turner) Berg.

He was a retired tannery employee and trustee of the Petersburg of the Brethren.

Survivng are his widow, Elva(Barger) Berg; a daughter, Mrs. Pauline Mongold, Odenton, Md.; two sons, Clarence Berg Jr., Hanover, Pa. and Glenville Berg, Gaithersburg, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Naomi Nesselrodt, Maysville and Mrs. Mary Johnson, Cumberland, Md.; a brother, Rodney Berg, Maysville; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son.

Services were conducted Sunday afternoon in the Petersburg Church of the Brethren by Rev. Connell Chaney and Rev. Myers Kimmel. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements were in charge of the Arnold Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ethel May Bonner, 77,of Baltimore, died Friday, June 20, 1980 in the Federal Nursing Home.

Born at Maysville, she was a daughter of the late William David and Louise (Riggleman) Davis. Twice married, she was preceded in death by both husbands, George Moomau and Jacob Bonner.

Surviving are two sons, Arnold Moomau, Piedmont, and Charles Davis, McCoole, Md.; four daughters, Mrs. Bessie Elliott, Baltimore, Mrs. Irene Viney, Keyser, Mrs. Marie Fishel, Baltimore and Mrs. Delphie Walker, Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Charles P. Davis, Romney; two sisters,Mrs. Stella Feaster, Maysville and Mrs. Angie VanMeter, Burlington; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Tuesday in the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Md., by the Rev. Joil Davis. Interment was in Queen's Point, Keyser.

Born April 13, 1927, in Seneca Rocks, she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. and Ethel (Alt) Champ. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gene W. Boggs, March 8, 1979.

She is survived by one son, Donald Boggs of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three daughters, Cynthia Yokum, Pamela Boggs and Beverly Boggs, all of Seneca Rocks; three sisters, Thelma Rohrbaugh and Rose Virginia Vance, both of Petersburg and Ruby Dolly of Medley; five brothers, Earl Champ of Cabins, Quentin Champ of Purgitsville, Darrell Champ of Petersburg, Andrew Harlan Champ of Baltimore and Dayton Champ of Lahmansville; three grandsons, Roderick Boggs of Tampa, Fla., Kevin Yokum of Buckhannon and Derek Boggs of Boston.; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Boggs and Lauren Boggs, both of Tampa and Noah Yokum of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence Allen "Joe" Bolin; three stepdaughters, Ruth Bolin of Franklin; Rose Marie Bolin of Pennsylvania and JoAnn Hinkle of Harrisonburg, Va.; one stepson, Lawrence Allen Puffenbarger of Franklin; one brother, Ersel Grant Stump of Martinsburg; four nieces and four nephews.

rs. Tiny Helen (Arbogast) Borror, 77, of Petersburg and formerly of Onego, died Nov. 2,2001  at Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins. She had been a resident of Nella's Nursing Home, Elkins, for the past two years.

Born Feb. 5, 1924, in Roaring Creek, Onego, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Alice (Helmick) Arbogast. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Orville Borror, July 16, 1980.

She is survived by two sons, Roger Lee Heavener of Petersburg and Robert C. Borror of Huntington; two daughters, Mary Alice Hawks of Seneca Rocks and Ruthie Elaine Michalides of Maysville; two sisters, Nola Dolly of Keyser and Clara McCoy of Cumberland, Md.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Nov. 5, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with interment in Arbogast Cemetery on Roaring Creek, Onego.

Mrs. Debbie J. (Pritts) Bailey, 40, of Arthur, died Oct. 24,2001  at her residence.

Born Dec. 19, 1960, at Keyser, she was the daughter of Virginia M. (Moorehead) Pritts of Bloomington, Md., and the late Richard F. "Hunch" Pritts Sr.

Besides her mother, she is survived by three daughters, Melissa Bailey of Fort Ashby, Kimberly Bailey of Hambleton and Pamela Bailey of Petersburg; one son, DeWayne Bailey of Keyser; two brothers, Richard F. Pritts Jr. of New Market, Md., and Robert Lee Pritts of Keyser; three sisters, Kathy Shillingburg and Karen McKone, both of Keyser, and Lynn Baker of Bloomington; two grandsons, Robert Camren Aronhalt and Devin Michael Nine and numerous nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family, there will be no funeral service. Graveside committal services will be private for the family. Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery, Bloomington.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser chapel.

Born March 5, 1922, in Hardy County, he was the son of the late Walter G. and Laura (Hines) Barr and stepmother, Nina Barr.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Idella (Thorne) Barr, whom he married Oct. 31, 1943; two daughters, Donna Myers and husband Victor, of Rig, and Deloris Clark and husband Paul, of Lahmansville; one son, David G. Barr and wife Velva, of Waynesboro, Va.; six sisters, Virginia Evans and Odessa Hedrick, both of Moorefield, Georgiana Sherman of Rig, Ramona Evans of Maysville, and Nola Jean George and Mary Ann Heilman, both of Petersburg; two brothers, William Barr of Cumberland Nursing Home, Cumberland, Md., and Donald Barr of Petersburg; seven grandchildren, Chuck Myers, Jeff Myers, Brian Myers, Carla Barr, David Barr, Tommy Clark and Christy Clark; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and lots of friends.

Funeral services were Oct. 30, at the Schaffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with interment in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.

Mrs. Ethel Christine (Mongold) Burgess, 92, of Maysville and more recently of the Grant County Nursing Home since Dec. 24, 1996, died Oct. 28,2001 at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born Nov. 5, 1908, in South Fork, she was the daughter of the late Ashby and Edith (Coffman) Mongold and stepmother Olive (Wolfe) Mongold. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Burgess, Feb. 12, 1995, one grandson, Danny Kimble Jan 2, 1992; one son, Ronald Burgess Aug. 2001 and two infant daughters, one infant son ; 2 half-brothers; 1 half-sister; 1 sister and 1 brother.

She is survived by one son, Donald Burgess and wife Dorothy of Maysville; four daughters, Goldie M. Berg and Frances Hinton, both of Maysville, Jean Cloer and husband Tommy of Union Grove, N.C., and Judy Kimble and husband Jim of Lahmansville; two half sisters, Nellie Miller and Edna Kibler, both of Moorefield; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one step great-granddaughter; three stepgreat-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Oct. 31, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, with interment in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.

Melvin C. Borror, 81, of Burlington, died Oct. 4,2001 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born Feb. 20, 1920, at Landes, he was the son of the late Jesse and Rebecca A. (Ayres) Borror.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel L. (Hedrick) Borror; two sons, Curtis J. Borror and Carl H. Borror, both of Burlington; one daughter, Iva J. Poling of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Oct. 8, at the Bonneview Apostolic Chapel, with interment in the Borror Family Cemetery, Burlington.

William Homan "Bill" Bobo, 47, of Cabins, died Aug. 4,2001 as the result of a drowning accident while fishing in the South Branch of the Potomac River near Moorefield.

Born Dec. 14, 1953, in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Homan Smith and Mabel Virginia Bobo.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn L. (White) Bobo, whom he married Aug. 15, 1993; two sons, William Foster "Willie" Bobo of Baltimore, and Charles William Bobo of Petersburg; four daughters, Billie Jo Bennett of Lahmansville, Ashley Dawn Bobo and Roxanne Lynn Bobo, both of Baltimore, and Judy Virginia Bobo of Cabins; one stepson, Mike White of Petersburg; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Marie Dennis and Donna Jean Schoolcraft, both of Petersburg; three sisters, Betty Black of Rig, Helen Kimble of Moorefield, and Linda Keeran, address unknown; one brother, Ralph Smith of Cabins; one half sister, Mary Ann Bryant of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandsons, Nathaniel A. Funeral services were Aug. 10, at the Maysville Bible Brethren Church, with interment in Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.

Born March 5, 1918, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late James Webster and Mamie Lee (Bean) Mowry. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dorsey C. Bryan, March 3, 2000.

Surviving are two sons, Dorsey Delano Bryan of Knoxville and Daniel Bryan of Adamstown, Md.; two daughters, Loberta Bryan Staley of Frederick and Yvonne Bryan Roderick of Ashburn, Va.; three sisters, twin Kathleen Hatfield of Richmond Va., Blondena Good of Knoxville and Vena Zirk of Winchester, Va.; one brother, James V. Roscoe Reese Brotherton, 86, of Maysville, died July 31,2001 at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, where he had resided since Nov. 13, 1998.

Born Aug. 2, 1914, in Charleston, he was the son of the late Lewis Roscoe and Hazel Mae (Coe) Brotherton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby M. (Evans) Brotherton, May 21.

He is survived by one daughter, Tomasenia Ours of Maysville; two sisters, Valeria Powers of Ripley, and Mary Rawlings of Charleston; two brothers, John W. Brotherton of Charleston, and Neil C. Brotherton of Ripley; three grandchildren, Tammy Duttine of Hurricane, Phyllis Doulaveris of Rockville, Md., and Kevin Ours of Chesapeake, Ohio; one stepgrandson; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Aug. 3, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with interment in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens, Petersburg.

Mrs. Ruth Comer Bird, 85, of Laurinburg, N.C. and formerly of Blue Creek, died Dec. 17,2000 at her residence, following a long illness.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles A. Dent in 1941 and Howard E. Bird in 1985 and one son, Charles A. Dent Jr. in 1977.

She is survived by two daughters, Patty Adkins of Petersburg and Joyce Flowers of Dowington, Pa.; one stepdaughter, Doris Boothe of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 22, at the Myers Funeral Home chapel, Elkview, with interment in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Mrs. Ethel Pearl Brown, 72, of Canvas, died Saturday, March 6, 1982 in a Charleston hospital.

Born October 29, 1909, at Petersburg, Grant County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Branson and Bessie (Reel) Watts.

Survivors include her husband, Harold C. Brown; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley McClung, Summersville, Mrs. Judy Kidd, Oak Hill and Mrs. Peggy Nunley, Peytons; four sons, Leonard Brown, Madison, Jimmy Brown, Richard Brown and Samuel Brown, all of Canvas; five sisters, Delphia Goldizen, Clearville, Pa., Dora Gapp, Moorefield, Dovie Mallow, Cabins, Verna Rohrbaugh, Fairfax, Va., Violet Barlow of Atlanta, G.; three brothers, Russell Watts, Arthur, Minor Watts, Augusta, Jay B. Watts, Baltimore, Md.; sixteen grandchildren and five step- grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 9, at the Howard White Funeral Home Chapel, Summersville, with Michael Hobbs, officiating. Interment was in the Whitman Cemetery of Canvas.

Trace. J. Burgess, 68, of Arthur died Friday, Dec. 16, 1983 at Grant Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 1, 1915 in Grant County, he was a son of the late Jonathan Burgess and Bettie (Goldizen) Burgess.

Mr. Burges was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Viola (Reel) Burgess; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Secrist, Arthur; four sons, James Burgess, Roger Burgess and Daniel Burgess, all of Arthur, Joseph Burgess, Rineyville, Ky.; two brothers, Boyd Burgess and Gene Burgess and two sisters, Mrs. Pluma Allen and Mrs. Orgie Hardy, all of Keyser.

Services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Petersburg Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Myers Kimmel and the Rev. Rodney Mason officiating. Interment was in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Arthur.

The family requests that memorials take the form of donations to the Diabetes Foundation.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Arnold-Basagic Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Jane Brummage, 82, of Fairmont, WV passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at the Wishing Well Manor of Fairmont.

Born March 5, 1923, in Keyser, WV, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin A. Rotruck and Ura Veach Tyler Rotruck. she was also preceded in death my her husband of 32 years, Robert L. Brummage; three brothers, Lucien Rotruck, Arbutus Rotruck , Dorsey Rotruck; and a sister Mildred F. Westby.
Mrs. Brummage was a former employee of W.T. Grant, retiring in 1976 as a merchandising manager. She attended the church of the brethren and was a member by faith. she enjoyed ceramics, knitting, sewing, cross stitching and painting.

Surviving are son, Robert L. Brummage II of Fairmont; a daughter, Roberta E. Harris, of Martinsburg, WV, a brother, Benjamin T. Rotruck of Denver, Colo; four grandchildren, Troy Harris of Fairmont, Todd Harris of Orlando, Florida, Aaron Brummage of Fairmont and Robyn Brummage Haught of Stewart's draft, Virginia, and five great grandchildren Corey Harris, Kalei Harris of Fairmont, Kyle Haught and Hannah Haught of Stewart's Draft and Clorressa Bennett of Morgantown, WV.

Friends may call at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, on Tuesday February 2 from 7-9 p.m.

Mrs. Dorothy May Browne, 83, of Scherr, died Sunday February 19, 1989 at her residence.

Born April 23, 1905 at Scherr she was the daughter of the late Loretta Idleman.

Mrs. Browne was a retired school teacher after teaching 37 years in west Virginia and Maryland, a member of the Brick Church of the Brethren, where she served as organist and choir director, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 146 Petersburg, the Petersburg garden Club, Maysville Homemakers Club and the Retired Teachers association.

She is survived by her husband E. Carlton Browne, one stepdaughter, Rosa Lee B. Leach, Smithsburg, Maryland; three step grandchildren, Caryn L. Summers, Steven P. Leach, Carleton M. Leach, and two step great grandchildren, Seth M. Summers and Ryan M. Summers.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at the Brick Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Steven Raines, the Rev. Harold Garber and Dr. DeWilt Miller officiating.  Interment will be at Simon P. Idleman family cemetery at Scherr.

Order of Easter star, Chapter 146, will conduct services this evening (Tuesday) at 8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home.  Memorials maybe made to the Grant County Library

Mrs. Mary F. Balduc, 44, of Arlington, Va., died Tuesday, April 14, 1992, at her home. She had been ill since September 1991.

Born Nov. 5, 1947, she was the daughter of Daniel Cowgill of Petersburg and Winifred Cowgill of Bethesda, Md.

Also surviving are her husband, Dr. Howard A. Balduc; three sisters, Carol Cowgill, Martha Cowgill and Katharine Minker; one brother Kenneth Cowgill; two nephews and a niece. The late Katharine Cowgill was her grandmother.

Funeral services were conducted at the Westmoreland Congregational United Church of Christ in Bethesda. Interment was in The Gate of Heaven Cemetery at Silver Spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorials were made to the Literacy Council of Montgomery County and to the Cancer Society.

Richard Summers Best, 71, of 2921 26th Street NE, Washington died Thursday at Prince Georges County Hospital.

A native of Breedlove, he was a son of the late Charles Isaac and Flora (Mosser) Best.

A lieutenant in the Metropolitan Police Department, Washington, for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1960, he was a member of Retired Men�s Association of the department.

Surviving are his widow, Ina M. (Junkins) Best; a son, Michael R. Best, Hillsboro, Va., and a granddaughter, Laurie Summers Best. A number of relatives reside in Grant, Mineral and Tucker Counties.

Servcies and interment took place in Washington.

Calvin S. Borror, 82, of St. Michaels, N.D. and formerly of Winchester, Va., died Friday, Dec. 5, 1997, at the Veterans Hospital in St. Michaels.

Born Oct. 30, 1915, in Petersburg, he was a son of the late John E. and Ethel (Schaeffer) Borror. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Snapp) Borror; one son, Roy Calvin Borror; one brother, Earl W. Borror; and one sister, Audrey Van Meter.

Mr. Borror was a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are one daughter, Bonnie Lou Yankton of St. Michaels; five brothers, Gene Borror and David Vaughn Borror, both of Stephenson, Va., Elvin Borror of Stanton, Va., Glenn Borror of White Post, Va., and Ronald P. Borror of Winchester; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were Tuesday afternoon at Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester.

Garth Junior Bennett, 68, of Carsonville, Michigan, formerly of Seneca Rocks, died Wednesday, April 15, 1992, at the Mercy Hospital at Port Huron, Michigan.

Born October 18, 1923, in Seneca Rocks, he was the son of the late George Adam and Edie Catherine (Lambert) Bennett.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Highsmith) Burl Bennett, April 22, 1988; one brother, Eli H. Bennett; two sisters, Marie Bennett and Ruth Harper; three half brothers, Flick and Zenus Bennett and George Chew; three half sister, Ethel Nelson, Tudie Bennett and Virgie Twigg.

Mr. Bennett was employed as a millwright for General Motors. He was a member of the VFW Post 8872 at Port Sanilac, Michigan and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Nora (Halstead) Adkins Bennett; four step-sons, Robert Burl, Roseville, Michigan, Darrell Adkins, Detroit, Michigan, Richard Burl and Robin Burl, both of Saint Clair Shores, Michigan; three step-daughters, Kay Gipson and Patricia Vickers, both of Utica, Michigan and Rebecca Lovitt, Warren, Michigan; two sisters, Mildred Bennett, Onego and Robbie Martin, Franklin; and 10 step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with the Rev. Stanley Kile officiating. Interment was in the North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton.

Mrs. Ora A. Berg, 92, of Maysville, died Tuesday, August 10, 1993, at Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney, where she had been a resident for one week.

Born February 4, 1901 at Cabins, she was the daughter of the late Jacob Turner and Dorcas (Kile) Turner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Christian Berg, March 31, 1962; two sons, one infant daughter, two stepsons, two stepdaughters, one brother and three sisters.

Mrs. Berg was a member of the Jordan Run Union Church, Maysville.

Surviving are three sons, Vernon Berg, David Berg and Leon Berg, all of Maysville; one daughter, Betty Smith of Harrisonburg, VA; two stepsons, Arlie Berg of Arthur and Carl Berg of Maysville; two stepdaughters, Jessie Carr of Maysville and Elsie Carr, Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg; one brother, John Turner of Cabins; one sister, Myrtle Ours of Arthur; 19 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday morning at the Jordan Run Union Church with the Rev. Paul Donaldson and the Rev. John Moyers officiating. Interment was in the Barger Family Cemetery at Maysville.

Memorials may be made to the Jordan Run Union Church.

Born December 17, 1914, in Brushy Run, she was the daughter of the late John and Hattie (Cook) Alt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles G. Borror, June 29, 1984; one son, Roger Borror; one brother; three sisters; and several grandchildren.

Mrs. Borror was a retired seamstress at Connie Sportswear, Franklin. She was a member of the Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by six sons, Randall Borror, of Petersburg, Patrick Borror of St. Marys, Emmett Daniel Borror of Harrisonburg, Guy Junior Borror of Mountain City, TN and Billy Wayne Borror and Bruce Borror, both of Upper Tract; six daughters, Virginia Lantz of Timberville, VA, Mary Metz of Upper Tract, June Eckard Palmer of Culver, IN, Jeannie Dove of Shenandoah, VA, Ruby Sites of Petersburg and Jane Bennett of Morgantown; one brother, Dayton Alt of Harrisonburg; one sister Violet Yankey of Petersburg; 39 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Wednesday morning, at the Basagic Funeral Home chapel, Franklin, with the Rev. Donald Leatherman officiating. Interment was in Wilson Chapel Cemetery, Upper Tract.

Mrs. Bowers was born November 4, 1907 in Pendleton County, Her parents were the late Jacob Alt and Anna Catherine (Kimble) Alt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlie Bowers who died December 1, 1970, and two daughters.

Surviving are four sons, Ivan Bowers, Franklin, Carl Bowers, Landes, Elton Bowers, Glen Burnie, MD, Lloyd Bowers, Mt. Joy, PA; four daughters, Mrs. Jeanne Jordan, Petersburg, Mrs. Betty Jo Maris, Madison, CT, Mrs. Doris Ann Collins, Baton Rouge, LA and Mrs. Deborah Lynn Mitchell, Mansfield, OH; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Shreve, Keyser; two brothers, Grant Alt and George Edward Alt, both of Franklin, 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Born November 16, 1927, at Upper Tract, she was the daughter of Ervin Kile of Upper Tract and the late Mary Smith Kile.

Surviving in addition to her father are her husband, John A. Burgess; one son, Scott Burgess, Santa Monica, CA; and one brother, Allen Kile, Upper Tract.

There was a memorial service April 6 at the Church of the Brethren in Denton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carolina Hospice Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 362, Denton 21629

Her body was given for scientific research.

Norman C. Burgess, 77, of Maysville, died Sunday, September 20, 1992, at his residence.

Born March 13, 1915, in Maysville, he was the son of the late Charles Jasper and Fannie Jane (Evans) Burgess.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Woodrow Burgess; and one sister, Myrtle Burgess. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Mr. Burgess was a member of the Jordan Run Church of the Brethren. He was a member of VFW Post 6554 of Petersburg and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Several cousins survive, including Tammy Barger, with whom he resided.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1pm at the Jordan Run Church of the Brethren with the Rev. John R. Moyers and the Rev. J. Robert Hughes officiating.

Interment will be in the Burgess Cemetery at Maysville.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Military graveside services will be accorded by the VFW Post 6554 and American Legion Post 78, Petersburg.
