Mrs. Ressie Velma (Kimble) Barger, 76, of Maysville, died Dec. 5,2000  at her home.

Born Dec. 16, 1923, in Smoke Hole, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Virgie (Alt) Kimble. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Brooke Barger, Aug. 11, 1994.

She is survived by one daughter, Glenna M. Waldron of Maysville; four sons, Johnny C. Barger, Kenneth C. Barger, Carl E. Barger and Bobby A. Barger, all of Maysville; one sister, Rettie Barnes of Winchester, Va.; two brothers, Junior "Bud" Kimble of Maysville and Brison Kimble of Oakland, Md.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; four stepgreat-greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Dec. 9, at the Jordan Run Union Church, with interment in Rohrbaugh Cemetery, Maysville.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg.

Infant Quinton Christopher Brake, 7 months, of Petersburg, died Dec. 20,2000 at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born April 30, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of Christopher W. Brake and Stephanie M. Larew of Petersburg.

Besides his parents, he is survived by one sister, Madison Brake of Petersburg; one brother, Tanner Brake of Petersburg; paternal grandfather, Warren G. Brake of Petersburg; maternal grandparents, William R. and Wilma B. Larew of Mount Storm; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services were Dec. 23, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with interment in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.

James Earle Bush, 35, of Seaford, Del., died Nov. 22,2000  at John's Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, from a brain aneurysm.

He was the son of Dian S. Bush of Seaford and the late James Bush. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Earle and Mary Bush.

He is survived by his wife, Janine Bush; one sister, Lynn Clagg of Laurel, Md.; and one brother, Scott Bush of Georgetown, Del.

Memorial services were Dec. 3, at the Stein Highway Church of God, Seaford. Graveside services were Dec. 4, at Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Cranston Funeral Home, Seaford. Local arrangements were under the Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg.

Charles Brooke "Todd" Bensenhaver, 91, of Rig, died Nov. 29,2000  at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.

Born June 14, 1909, in Hardy County, he was the son of the late Calvin C. and Myrtle (Vance) Bensenhaver.

He is survived by his wife, Eula V. (Halterman) Bensenhaver; four sons, Charles B. Bensenhaver II of Louisville, Ky., Donnie Lee Bensenhaver of Wheeling, Clyde D. Bensenhaver of Rig and Dewey F. Bensenhaver of Petersburg; five daughters, Elizabeth Barr and Patsy Riggleman, both of Rig, Mary Hines of Moorefield, Nancy Brecher of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Helen Rohrbaugh of Maysville; one sister, Mary Schell of Moorefield; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Dec. 2, at the Moorefield Presbyterian Church, with interment in Newhouse Cemetery, Rig.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield.

Mrs. Esta Margaret (Weese) Bergdoll, 93, of Dorcas, died Nov. 21,2000  at her home.

Born June 25, 1907, in Arthur, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Madeline (Simon) Weese. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Evers Bergdoll, June 3, 1973. She was the last member of her immediate family.

She is survived by four daughters, Aldene Brake, Maxine Roby and Wanda (Bergdoll) Curl, all of Petersburg and Barbara (Bergdoll) Ours of Manassas, Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Nov, 24, at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg, with nterment in Bergdoll Family Cemetery, Rough Run.

Billy Rush Bland, 66, of Riverton, died Nov. 14,2000  at his residence.

Born Aug. 11, 1934, in Macksville, he was the son of the late Don and Tina (Huffman) Bland. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda (Mauzy) Bland.

He is survived by his second wife, Emma Mae (Chew) Bland, whom he married March 28, 1969; two daughters, Beverly Goldizen of Petersburg and Evelyn Bland of Riverton; five sons, Bobby Bland, Billy Bland Jr. and Jeffrey Bland, all of Dorcas, the Rev. Gregory Bland of Maysville and Joseph Bland of Winchester, Va.; two sisters, Ann Thompson of Seneca Rocks and Mary Alice Tilburg of Harrisonburg, Va.; two brothers, Harry Bland of Riverton and Jackie Bland of Seneca Rocks; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 22 nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Nov. 18, at the North Fork Baptist Church, with interment in North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Basagic Funeral Home, Franklin.

Lavaughn Lee Bobo, 78, of Petersburg and formerly of Kessel, died Nov. 19,2000  at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born Jan. 14, 1922, in Kessel, she was the daughter of the late Roy W. and Blanche (Kessel) Bobo.

She is survived by three brothers, Overton W. Bobo of Maysville, Karl W. Bobo of Lahmansville and John Paul Bobo of Quilcene, Wash.; two nephews; 11 nieces; cousins, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Nov. 22, at the Fraley Funeral Home chapel, with interment in Olivet Cemetery, Moorefield.

James F. Bergstrom, 72, of Mount Storm, died Oct. 29, 2000 at his home.

Born Nov. 16, 1927, in Davis, he was the son of the late Carl and Thelma (Hopps) Bergstrom. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sabrina S. Fansler.

He is survived by his wife, Johanna M. (Menter) Bergstrom; five sons, Thomas W. Bergstrom of Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael H. Bergstrom of Las Vegas, Nev., Steve J. Bergstrom of Colorado Springs, Colo., James A. Bergstrom of Meilden Hall, Germany and Carl A. Bergstrom of Yuba City, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

At his request, his body was cremated. A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Calvin C. Borror, 75, of Upper Tract, died Dec. 16, 2000 at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born Feb. 26, 1926, at Landes, he was the son of the late James and Ada Belle (Judy) Borror.

He is survived by his wife, Helen C. (Kimble) Borror, whom he married Aug. 9, 1948; one daughter, Virginia Rodgers of Upper Tract; one brother, Richard Borror of Petersburg; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were Dec. 19, at theKimble Funeral Home chapel, Franklin, with interment in the Wilson Chapel Cemetery, Upper Tract. Military graveside services were conducted by the combine veterans' organizations of Grant County and the Petersburg High School JROTC.

Mrs. Lucy Irene Barger, 87, of Maysville, died June 24, 2001  at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg, where she had resided since May 30, 1997.

Born March 21, 1914, in Jordan Run, she was the daughter of the late Aaron C. and Lura (Barger) Goldizen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur G. Barger, Dec. 2, 1994.

She is survived by five sons, Harlan Barger of Keyser, Donald Barger, Verlin Barger and Roger Lee Barger, all of Maysville, and Wendell Barger of Dorcas; two daughters, Florina Vance and Rosa Lee Mongold, both of Maysville; two sisters, Rose Feaster of Maysville, and Rhoda Mae Warner of Petersburg; two brothers, Arthur Goldizen of Cabins, and Robert "Chuck" Goldizen of Maysville; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandson.

Funeral services were June 27, at the Jordan Run Church of the Brethren, with interment in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg.

Mitchell Bonner, 76, of Burlington, died June 2, 2001  at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.

Born Aug. 9, 1924, in Dry Fork, he was the son of the late Sauel and Laurie (Day) Bonner.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred Katherine (Flanagan) Bonner; two daughters, Juanita Heavener of Petersburg, and JoAnn Quick of Lahmansville; one sister, Toy Ethel White of Hambleton; three grandchildren, Anette Heavener and Christopher and Becky Quick; and one great-grandchild, Ashley Quick.

Funeral services were June 5, at the Hinkle Funeral Home chapel, Davis. Interment was in Flanagan Memorial Cemetery, Lanesville.

Elizabeth Glendora Barr, 59 of Fountainhead Addition, Keyser, WV died Tuesday November 19, 1985 at Memorial Hospital Cumberland, Maryland.

Born August 02, 1926 in Williamsport, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clifton E. and Vera I. (Michael) Bill. Her husband Robert W. Barr Sr. preceded her in death February 16, 1983

Mrs. Barr was a member of the ladies auxiliary to Nancy Hanks Post 3518, Keyser, VFW; Barry-Kelly Post Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Surviving are a son, Robert W. Barr Jr., Arthurdale, WV; three daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Meek, Mrs. Patricia Baur, both of Keyser, WV; Mrs. Glenda Zais, New Creek, WV; two brothers, Edward Bill, Barboursville, WV and Harry Ervin, Virginia Beach, VA; a sister, Miss Virginia Bill, Clarksville, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck Funeral Home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m at the funeral home by Rev. David H. Peters. Interment will be in Queen�s Point Cemetery.

Kenneth V. Bosley, 73, of Oakland, Maryland died Thursday April 29,  at his residence.

Born September 16, 1925 in Gormania, WV, he was the son of the late Evers O. and Estella O. (Dilgard) Bosley. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Edward O. Bosley.

Mr. Bosley owned and operated the Backbone Mountain Service Station from 1959 until retirement in 1992. He and his wife also owned and operated the Backbone Mountain Inn until 1976 and currently owned and operated the Maryland Motel. He also owned and operated K.B. Trucking.

He was a former elder of the Gormania Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Mt. Storm Presbyterian Church. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served aboard LSM #229 in the Philippines. He was a life member of VFW Post #6735, Mt. Storm and Protor Kildow Post #71, American Legion, Oakland.

Mr. Bosley was a 47 year member of the Thomas-Fairfax Lodge #174, A.F.&A.M., Thomas and a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Freemasonry, Cumberland, Maryland, ali Ghan Shrine, Cumberland. He as also a 46 year member of the National LSM-LSMR Associations and of Walter Chapter #43, O>E>S>, Davis, WV

He is survived by his wife Juanita L. (Allman) Bosley; four sons, David A. Bosley, Thomas E. Bosley, James V. Bosley and Daniel B. Bosley, all of Oakland, Maryland; one unofficially adopted son, Joe McRobie of Grantsville, Maryland; one daughter, Gale L. Legeer of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Lois B. Seal and Shirley B. Coffman, both of Baltimore, Maryland and nine grandchildren.

A Masonic memorial service was conducted at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Saturday, by members of Oakland Lodge #192 A.F. &A.M.. Funeral services were Sunday, May 2, with the Rev. David Watersworth and the Rev. Charles Pollock officiating. Military honors were accorded at the cemetery by members of the various veteran�s organizations in southern Garrett County. Interment was in the Pope Cemetery, Gorman, WV.

Ronald Lester Borror, 78, Petersburg, died Tuesday, march 13, 2001, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg. He had lived at the Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin for the past year and a half.

Mr. Borror was born Aug. 20, 1922, in Landes and was a son of the late James H. and Ada Belle Judy Borror.

He was employed by the West Virginia Department of Highways and worked in several orchards. He was a member of the Petersburg First Baptist Church.

His wife, Margie A. Nesselrodt Borror, died Oct. 24, 1990.

Surviving are five daughters, Mary Jane Borror, Moorefield, Dessie Westfall, Maysville, Edna Mae Borror, Washington, DC, Shirley Anderson, Franklin and Barbara Wimer, Petersburg, Two brothers Richard Borror and Calvin Borror, both of Upper Tract; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mila Sue Borror, two sons, infant, Lester Earl Borror and Ronald L. Borror, Jr., two sisters, Dora Borror Cosner and Edna Borror Clayton.

The Revs. Charles Lomasney and Don Flanigan conducted the funeral 11 a.m. Thursday at Faith Assembly of God Church in Petersburg. Burial was at the Nesselrodt Cemetery, Landes.

John A. Burgess, 72, of Denton, Maryland, died at his home Sunday, May 19, 1996 from complications relating to diabeties and two previous hart attacks.

Born august 20, 1924, at Maysville, he was the son of the late Thomas and Nellie Burgess.

A memorial service was Friday, May 24, at the Church of the Brethren, Denton, Maryland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the John and Elva burgess Memorial Fund, Denton Church of the Brethren, 108 S. 2nd Street, Denton, Maryland 21629.

As with his late wife, Mary Elva Burgess of Upper Tract, he gave his body for scientific research.

Arlie L. Bible, 93 of Maysville, WV, died Monday, July 21, 1997, at Grant Memorial Hospital.  He had been a resident at the Grant County Nursing Home since August 22, 1994.

Born March 13, 1904, at Franklin, WV, he was the son of the late Flick and Matilda (Halterman) Bible Lambert.  He was also preceded in death my two wives, Mary S. (Cullers) Bible on May 27, 1937 and Zernie J. (VanMeter) Bible on December 10, 1985; two infant sons; one sister, Mary Lambert; and two brothers, Otha and Oscar Lambert. 

Mr. Bible was a farmer and a member of the Falls Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are five sons, Marvin E. Bible, of Scherr, WV, Merlin G. Bible, a resident of Grant County Nursing home, Bobby E. Bible, of Maysville, WV, Roger L. Bible, of Moorefield, WV, and Ronnie W. Bible of Petersburg, WV; one step son, Warren Cullers of Timberville, Virginia; two daughters, Norma E. Feaster, of New Creek, WV and Hilda F. Lambert, of Franklin, WV; two sisters, Nellie Lambert, of Westernport, Maryland and Norma Fazenbaker, of LaVale, Maryland; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at the falls Assembly of God Church with Rev. Luther Travis, Rev. Stanley Kile and Rev. Greg Rotruck officiating.

Interment will be in Lahmansville Cemetery at Lahmansville, WV.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Falls Assembly of God Church.

Russell G. Burns, 89, of HC 86, Box 182, Purgitsville, WV, died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney, WV

Born March 07, 1912, at Jordan Run, WV, he was a son of the late Harry and Sarah (Rohrbaugh) Burns.  He also was preceded in death by his wife, Edith L. Burns, on June 01, 1975; two sons, John Burns and Junior Burns; a daughter, Pearl Burns, a stepson, Willis �Sid� Rohrbaugh; and two step-grandsons, Tommy and Leroy Rohrbaugh.  He as the last surviving member of his immediate family.   

Mr. Burns was a self-employed timber man and farmer.  He also worked with the B&O Railroad for a number of years.  He attended the Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church, Purgitsville, WV.

He is survived by his long-time special companion, Anna High, Purgitsville, WV; two sons, Ronnie Lee Burns, and wife Peggy, Purgitsville, WV and Ernest Russell �Ernie� Burns and wife, Pat, Purtitsville, WV; one daughter, Bueanna �Ann� Halterman and husband Richard.  Unionville, Virginia; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Knobley Church of the Brethren, New Creek, on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Roger Leatherman officiating.  The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services.

Interment will be in the Knobley Cemetery, New Creek, WV

Elvin L. Borror, 75 of Staunton, Virginia died Tuesday, February 09, 1999 at Oakhill Nursing home, Staunton.

Born June 23, 1923, at Petersburg, he was the son of the late John E. and Ethel M. (Shaffer) Borror. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Phares) Borror, June 1995.

Mr. Borror was a machine operator for American safety Raxor, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Petersburg.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Borrow of Albuquerque, N.M. and Donald Borror of Petersburg; one daughter, Linda Borror of Petersburg; four brothers, Glenn Borror of White Post, Virginia, David and Gene Borror both of Stephenson, Virginia and Ronald Borror of Winchester, Virginia; and one grandson.

Graveside services were Saturday morning in the Mausoleum at Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, with the Rev. D. Rhodes Woolly officiating.

Jones Funeral Home, Winchester was in charge of arrangements.

Leon Bob Berg, 69 of Maysville died Thursday November 12, 1998 at the Winchester Medical Center, Virginia.
Born May 25, 1929, in Jordan Run, he was the son of the late Thomas Christian and Ora (Turner) Berg.  He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Danny Leon Berg; and infant daughter, Tina June Berg; one brother, Vence Berg; one sister, infant Mary Berg, four half brothers, an infant, George Bert, Carl Berg, Ulysses Berg and Albert Turner; four half sisters, Elsie Carr, Edna Hesse, Pluma Goldizen and Viola Turner, and one infant great grandson, Tristian Drake Sherman.

Mr. Berg was a timberman and member of Jordan Run Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rosetta (Heavener) Berg, whom he married June 20, 1953; three daughters, Twila Berg of Maysville, Wreatha Riggleman and Pansy Ours of Moorefield; two brothers, David and Vernon Berg of Maysville; one half brother, Arlie Berg of Arthur; one sister, Betty Smith of Harrisonburg, Virginia; one half sister, Jessie Carr of Maysville; three grandchildren, Valerie Sherman, Eric Riggleman and Nicole Ours; one great granddaughter, Sable Sherman and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at Jordan Run Union Church, Maysville, with the Revs. Paul Donaldson and Joseph Eversole officiating.  Interment was in the Barger Cemetery, Maysville.

Memorial may be made to Jordan Run Union Church.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg.

Benjamin Franklin Berg, 59, of Maysville, died Tuesday, May 07, 2002 at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Born May 23, 1942, in Maysville, he was the son of the late Hershel B. and Myrtle Ann (Alt) Berg. He was also preceded in death by one son, Benjamin F. berg II and one grandson Caleb Lee Goldizen.

Mr. Berg was a member of the Petersburg Church of God, charter member of the North Fork Ruritan Club and served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife Karen Sue (Parsons) Berg whom he married February 05, 1972; one daughter Kimberly S. Goldizen of Maysville; one sister, Mary Ann Ratcliff of Maysville; one brother, Marvin E. Berg of Maysville and three grandchildren, Felicia S. Goldizen, Joshua L. Goldizen and Mikayla S. Goldizen.

Funeral services were Friday afternoon at the Petersburg Church of God with the Rev. Roy Dale Sharp and the Rev. Ernest C. Pennington officiating.  Interment was in the Kline Cemetery, Kline.  Military graveside services were conducted by combined veteran organizations of Grant County and accompanied by the Petersburg High School JROTC.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice

Alva A. Burgess, 79 of South Fork, died Thursday, December 05, 1996 at the Veterans Medical Center, Martinsburg.  He had been a resident of the Veterans Nursing home for two years.

Born January 15, 1917, at Maysville, he was the son of the late Isaac and Nellie (Reed) Burgess.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pearlie J. (Nelson) Burgess January 15, 1978; an infant son, Irvin Burgess; an infant daughter, Esther Mae Burgess; and one brother Jesse Burgess.

Mr. Burgess was an insulator for Wayne Insulation, Alexandria, Virginia and a W. S. Navy veteran of World War II.  He was Brethren by faith.

Surviving are six sons, Ivan Burgess of Sterling, Virginia, Leon Burgess of Brandywine, Carl Burgess of Moorefield, Eston Burgess of St. Louis, MO, Gene Burgess of Corpus Christi, Texas and Alva Junior Burgess of Norwich, Conn.; two daughters, Juanita Burgess Scott of Brandywine and Wilda Burgess Libby of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, Kermit Blaine Burgess of Flintstone, Maryland; 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sunday afternoon at the Schaeffer Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg with Pastor Harold Cullers officiating.  Interment was in North Fork Memorial Cemetery, Riverton.  Military graveside rites were accorded by Potomac Highlands, VFW Post 6454 and American Legion Post 78, Petersburg.
