This section opens with the chief priests and elders conspiring to kill Jesus after Passover and with Judas betrayal for thirty pieces of silver. Meanwhile, after preparations for Passover are complete, Jesus tells his disciples that the bread and wine are his body and blood and they are to drink it. After Passover was complete, Jesus and his disciples go to Mount Olive for Jesus to pray. It was during this time that Jesus foretells Peters denial and asks God to let his approaching death pass from him. After descending the mountain, Jesus is met by a mob and is betrayed by Judas. Jesus disciples flee and only Peter follows. Peter denies Jesus three times and Judas hangs himself during Jesus trail before Pontius Pilate. Although Pontius Pilate is reluctant, he gives Jesus over to be crucified. All the soldiers, chief priests, elders, and people nearby mock him as he is crucified. At his death, an earthquake occurs that raises the dead and rips the Temple curtain. Jesus is buried in Josephs, a follower of Jesus, tomb. A guard is posted at the tomb to make sure Jesus disciples dont steal the body and claim he has risen, because of what was foretold by Jesus. On the next Sunday, an earthquake opens the tomb and an angel appears to Mary and Mary Magdalene telling them that Jesus had risen. Although the guards are paid off to claim that Jesus body had been stolen, Jesus appears before the disciples who are told by Jesus that he will always be with him while they spread the Word of God. This confrontation between Jesus and his disciples concludes the Gospel of Matthew.
