Second time lucky for Gayathri

When model-turned-actress Gayathri Jayaram was signed for Aduthu Paaduthu, not many were convinced that she had it in her to deliver a hit. After all, her debut in Tamil through Manathai Thirudivittai was disastrous. The svelte Gayathri came across as being gawky and clumsy.
And soon after that film, Gayathri vented out her ire on hero Prabhu Deva. She alleged that the actor had short-changed her. The words bandied about were 'exploited' and 'cheated'. In short, everything that could possibly go wrong had gone wrong for Gayathri.
So, there was no expectation of Aduthu Paaduthu or Gayathri.
In the final reckoning, that may have been good for the film as it has an impressive beginning and Gayathri's performance is also being talked about.
"I am not saying anything. I am keeping my fingers crossed," says a tense and cautious Gayathri. Her anxiety is understandable. She does not want to jump the gun. Yet, the long-legged beauty is happy that at least she has more pleasant memories of this film than her first one in Tamil. "I would not like to go into that now (about her debut movie). It was disastrous on all counts," she seethes.
"Aduthu Paaduthu was different. It was a fun movie. I got along with the unit very well," she says. The screen chemistry between Gayathri and hero Srikanth looks great. And more importantly, Gayathri herself has shown signs of improvement in her acting. "I accept that I was very nervous in my first film. I guess it must have come through on the screen," she says.
Even as she awaits the final verdict on Aduthu Paaduthu, Gayathri is also pondering her choices for future. "There are a couple of offers in both Telugu and Tamil. I am also doing a film in Tamil. But I will be clearer in my mind, once I know the fate of Aduthu Paaduthu." The film, a re-make of Malayalam super hit Ee Parakkum Thalika, is a comedy caper.

GAYATHRI JAYARAM'S much-hyped debut in "Manadhai Thirudi Vittai" didn't do much for her career. But that's in Tamil. Her entry into Kannada filmdom seems to have augured well for her "Neela", her first Kannada film directed by Nagabharana, has bagged four Film Fans' Association awards. Gayathri has won the award for Best Actress.
Her "Aadathu Paadathu", in Telugu, ("Sundara Travels" will be its Tamil remake) she says, has done well too. This model-turned actress will next be seen in "Sri" the Tamil line-up also includes "Parattai", with Anoop Kumar, and "April Madhathil", with Srikanth.

Gayatri Jairam was quite cheesed off, with a recent incident. Any actress in her place would have been, for that matter. There were posters of her all over the city, with actor Pandiarajan next to her, announcing the film Enn Pondattiyum, Ethir Veettu Pennum starring the duo. "I've acted in no such film. Theyve taken my photo from a private telephone diary and used it here. Ive nothing to do with that film!" insists the pretty actress.

It was a stunning and enticing dance sequence indeed. Jayaram and Gayatri Jayaram danced to the stimulating music and rich lyrics. 'Kaliyaadi thalir choodum, Lebanonin priyathozhi, Neeyen maaril chayaan'. Jayaram and Gayatri Jayaram who are going to be a new sensation in Malayalam were creating a novel body language with their dance in 'SALPPERU RAMANKUTTY' a film by Anil Babu.
The film was first named, as 'SALPPERU SUGUNAN MASTER' Ramankutty is a head master in a school. Though he is much junior to others in the school he is given the post of HM in that particular private school solely because his father had earned a good name among the public. So Ramankutty, a member of a wealthy and influential family in the village is adored by a lot of people. All Young women of the village wants like to marry him. In fact he has a number of cousins in the competition. But only one girl by name sangeetha succeeds in the competition. Gayatri Jayaram is playing the role of Sangeetha.
A song of this kind had never been picturised with Jayaram in the lead. Kalavoor Ravikumar writes the script and the song sequence is shot at the Chennai studio. The rest of the shooting takes place in Kuttanad in Alleppy district. It was Art director Muthu who did the enchanting sets in Prasad studios to shoot the dream like scenes for the song sequence. It cost them two lakhs for the set alone.
