Tasks

 Task 1: 

The four members of your team have been asked to compose notes containing questions and answers to help your team during a colloquy with another team in the class.  Each student will research two resources and become an expert on a specific subject in order to convince members of the opposing team.    You will agree and focus as team to see what resources will help to present a united front and cohesive responses for the colloquy

  • Seek all angles of the issue entailed, i.e. reason for support, evidence to support reasoning.
  • Use index cards to keep track of points to make.
  • Cite sources used in order to strengthen points.
  • Feel free to present tangible evidence, i.e. books, artifacts, articles, diaries, labeled exhibit A, B,C, etc.

 

Task 2:

  • Each student will consider the resources provided on process and resource pages and ascertain what the significance is of Mockingbird and Blue Jay symbols in the novel.  Each student will choose a character  and ascribe the characteristics of said character to one of the bird species and write an original paper in narrative form considering the following:
  • Would you consider this character a representation of a Mockingbird or Blue Jay?  Why?
  • Does this character develop from a Mockingbird to a Blue Jay, or vice verse, during the course of the novel?
  • If so, what represents this transformation?
  • What events contribute to the development of this transformation?
