| IRC Commands (leave a space after the white portion) Action: /me type action Leave IRC: /quit type goodbye message Leave Room: /part type goodbye message Change Name: /nick type_new_name Join or Create Room: /join #Room_Name (you will still be in the original room as well. Use /part command to leave a specific room) Ignore User: /ignore User_Name Away Message: /away type your message (To return - type /away again. It toggles) Private Message: /msg User_Name type your message (This sends a private message -without- a PM window) Private Message: /query User_Name type your message (This opens a PM window. You may also simply double click on a name in the chatters list to do this.) Invite User: /invite User_Name #Room_Name Clear Screen: /clear (This clears your screen and buffer of text history) Commands for room ops (moderators) Give ops: !op User_Name (This gives the person ops power for this visit only.) Take ops: !deop User_Name (This reverses the !op command.) Kick user out of room: !kick User_Name type reason (The user may reenter. If the user needs to be kicked three times in one session, ban them on the third time.) Kick & Ban user from room: !kb User_Name type reason (The user cannot enter the room again until their name is removed from the banned user list.) Change room's welcome message: /topic type new message (The message is permanent until changed again) Commands for user created room ops Give ops: /mode #Room_Name +o User_Name (same effect as above) Take ops: /mode #Room_Name -o User_Name (same effect as above) Kick user out of room: /kick #Room_Name User_Name Set room's welcome message: /topic type message |
| Helpful Tips Register (password protect) your screen name: /msg nickserv register yourpassword yourEmail (This is not required, but it prevents others from using your chosen screen name) Login with registered screen name: /msg nickserv identify yourpassword (You must do this within 60 seconds of entering the room with a registered nick or @Security will kick you out.) Link extra screen names to your registered name: Enter with an unregistered name and type /msg nickserv group Your_Registered_Name yourpassword (This registers your new name with the same password and links it to the original. This allows you to switch between the linked names without having to reenter your password each time) Float the chat room: Click on the "Float" button to detach the chat room from the page. You can then maximize and/or minimize the room while using the same browser to surf the net. DO NOT close the original browser or you will leave chat. Gather Some Friends: Most of the time, if you just pop into the IRC room at random, you will find it empty. One of the benefits of IRC is the lack of random chatters that can disrupt the RP session. I recommend gathering a few of your fellow RPers together and then all head into the IRC room. You will be able to RP, unhindered, for as long as you like.
