GATE GET FINAL APPROVAL Margate Football Club yesterday (16/4) got final permission from Thanet District Council to transform the home of football in Margate into one of the best stadia in Non-League football. Residents had until last Friday (11/4) to submit any last queries they had, and after no major issues were raised, the council was delighted to issue the club with full backing in their aim to bring top class sporting facilites to the town by the start of next season in August. The Council will be working closely with the club on a number of issues including floodlight details, archaeology, and landscaping. The club is yet to submit outline proposals for the proposed commercial development. item added 17/04/03
FARNBOROUGH NEXT AT CRABBLE Conference strugglers Farnborough Town will visit Crabble this Saturday coming fresh of the back of an impressive 2-0 victory at Chetser's Deva Stadium on Tuesday night. Town, free of former manager and owner Graham Westley's shackles, will be hoping to pull clear of the danger zone this Saturday. Striker Rocky Baptiste is the danger man, although he sat out Boro's 4-1 win over Gate in October at Cherrywood Road. Margate will hope to have strikers Phil Collins and Leon Braithwaite back from injury after they missed last week's comfortable 2-0 victory at Southport's Haig Avenue. Injury victim Jay Saunders, who was carried off in a stretcher with a suspected broken nose, is a major doubt for the Blues as they look to consolidate their top half placing in the Conference as the season reaches its climax. item added 17/04/03 |
