Biographical Info

Gary Schwendiman is the Director of Investment Strategy at Schwendiman Partners LLC.  With over 16 years of experience managing private investment partnerships, he is responsible for the development and implementation of investment strategies.  The strategies he has developed are the foundation for the company's investment funds.

In 1977, Dr. Schwendiman was named Dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, a position he held until 1994.  In 1994, Dr. Schwendiman resigned as Dean to devote his full time to Schwendiman Partners.

Prior to becoming Dean, he was Assistant and Associate Dean from 1974 to 1977.  He provided overall leadership for 70 Ph.D. level faculty members, 2500 undergraduate students, 250 MBA students, and 100 Ph.D. students in the areas of Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, and Marketing.  During the time he was Dean, he substantially increased the international education requirements for students and also established six programs for students to study in China, England, India, Japan, Mexico, and Turkey.  Born in 1940, Dr. Schwendiman graduated from Washington State University with honors in 1962 and studied further to receive his masters degree in 1970 and his Ph.D. in 1971 from Brigham Young University.  From 1972 to 1973, Dr. Schwendiman was affiliated with General Motors Institute.  He taught classes to engineers, did research, and was a consultant to various divisions of the General Motors Corporation.

Dr. Schwendiman serves on the board of directors for several companies.  He is on the board of directors of the Gallup Organization, social and political pollsters, with world headquarters in Princeton, New Jersey.  The Gallup Organization has company owned offices in 22 countries of the world along with Gallup affiliate offices in 40 additional countries.  Since 1987, he has been on the board of directors of Inacom, one of the world's leading information technology services companies.  Inacom operates nationally and internationally through 1100 service centers and has sales of over $7 billion per year.  He is also on the board of directors and the investment committee of Security Mutual Life Insurance Company which oversees investment assets of $500 million.  From 1986 to 1992, he served on the boards of the National Bank of Commerce and their related entity, First Commerce Investors, which managed bond and stock investments totaling $400 million.

Since 1991, he has accepted a yearly renewable appointment by the Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as one of six public service members nationwide to serve on the Savings Association Insurance Fund Advisory Committee.  This committee reports directly to the U.S. House and Senate Committees on Banking.  The Committee is charged with a "watch dog" role over the new Savings Association Insurance Fund, in light of the multi-billion dollar failure of the FSLIC fund which this new Savings Association Insurance Fund replaces.

From 1990 to 1997, he served as one of 15 U.S. business representatives or deans  of the Board of Governors of Beta Gamma Sigma, which oversees the business affairs of the 370,000 member organization of U.S. business college graduates who finish in the top 10% of their graduating class and receive the high academic honor of membership in Beta Gamma Sigma.  He served as Chairman of the Beta Gamma Sigma Investment Committee from 1992 to 1995
