Austrailian Camp - Our last night and one of the most beautiful places along the whole trip

I skipped over our 9th night at Tolka.  It was a typical small town with a couple of stores.  We bought card decks for thank you gifts for all the porters and Sherpas.  We surprised the store owner when we cleaned him out of cards.  I bet that was a first for him.

Austrailian Camp has a panorama of 15 peaks.  You can see Machepucharre in the background in the picture on the left.  There were probably 4 or 5 peaks above 8000 meters visible (11 peaks above 8K meters in the world).  Bishnu Hara Debe Kota pictured at the left is the owner of this land where we camped.  He was very friendly and showed me this spot which had fanatastic views.  I will always remember this spot as special.  Nathann and Nawang hung a long string of prayer flags in the trees by our tents.

For the adventerous, Arlene suggested an exhilerating hike from Austrailian camp to Pokhara.  It was about a 9 hour hike.  It was 12 miles and 6,000 ft of elevation change.  This picture taken from Sarangkot shows Pokhara about 3,000 ft down down down. It was hard on everyone's knees, but a fun and scenic way to end the trekking part of the trip.

Here is a picture of Nolan, Gary, Lee, Brenda and Jerry resting at Sarangkot.

Thus ended the trekking part of our trip.  We stayed at the Bluebird Hotel in Pokhara which is a 5 star hotel, flew to Katmandhu for a couple of days where we visited Baktapur, had a lesson in Nepali art and statue making, shopped, and prepared for our trip to India.
