We flew into Dehli after Christmas (celebrated in Pokhara) but before New Years.  Our destination was Agra.  This was the location of the Taj Mahal.  After a few days there we were to be off to go on a camel safari in parts of India that few (if any) tourists had ever gone to before.  In the five hour bus ride to Agra, at one of the check points, this fellow came to the window.  I have never seen windows on a bus go up and closed so fast before!  We all stared at the show from the safety of the 'other side' of the glass window.  All except Nolan who had to pet the snake.  We were told that the snake's teeth had been removed.  Snakes are valued in India because they kill a lot of rodents.

My favorite picture of the Taj Mahal that I took.  A king built this monument for his wife who passed away in childbirth.  It is built in the Moslem tradition with it's art and architecture focusing on the Koran and symmetry.  One reason the Taj is so stunning is that it is built on the high edge of land boardering a river.  Thus it only has sky for background.  It's beautiful white stone picks up the blue of the sky and it seems to be in harmony with it.

In Agra, we stayed at the hotel Atithi at:

which I highly recommend.

Nathan discovered a location by which it appears that he is holding up the Taj Mahal.

This is the view from the Taj Mahal looking at the entrance.  As with the above forwards view, it too is symetrical.
