West Coast Trail, Page 2 :
Next page.
On day 2 we hit the beach. The storm was now at it's fullest, and as it turns out we were hiking the trail during the worst strom to hit the West Coast of Vancouver Island in 40 years.
To give you an idea of just how big the waves really were, they were breaking over these rocks. We are actually about 10 feet off the beach where we are standing, with the top of the rocks another 10 feet or so above us.
As luck would have it, near the end of the second day we found this rather roomy cave. It was big enough for both our tents and still had lots of room to spare. We spent 2 days here waiting for the storm to pass. We were SO WET that to us this cave was the Hilton on the Beach. We spent the down time exploring the beach. It was nice knowing we had a warm dry place to return to.
