For Zion's Sake

In 2001, For Zion's Sake once again toured Israel, bringing with them their special joy and enthusiasm for the land of the Bible. They made their first tour to Israel two years ago, presenting the dances and songs of the people as a gesture of friendship and goodwill.

The For Zion's Sake dance troupe are members of a large homeschool group in Knoxville, Tennessee. The children range in age from 6 to 19. They were accompanied on the tour by at least one parent, some of whom participate with their children in several traditional Israeli dances such as Ani Oleh Jerusalem, Noladiti L'Shalom and Eretz, Eretz, Eretz. This dance troupe has spent the last year studying about the land of Israel, learning traditional Israeli dances and studying Hebrew language as part of their homeschool education. They believe this to be the ultimate field trip!

In 2006, the troupe brought a special dance from the poem by Hannah Szenes called "Eli, Eli". After visiting her kibbutz and museum the first trip, the children felt a special connection to her story. They brought a unique choreography using art on silk to express the words of Hannah's poem in an unusual "Arts in Motion" presentation. The For Zion's Sake dance troupe come with a heart full of love and an expression of solidarity with the Israeli people and the land of the Bible. They toured the land from October 7th - 21st.

For Zion's Sake meets every month to review their dances, learn new choreography and creative ways to worship, and rehearse for upcoming events. If you would like them to dance at your event, please fill out the Booking Form. If you would like to see the kinds of dances they present, you can view them at our YouTube Channel.
