PLACES I'VE BEEN Chiang Mai- Is Thailand's second largest city and a shoppers HEAVEN! what did i buy? no less than THREE purple bags and FOUR scarves. The scarves are for me, but thebags are presents because otherwise i would have a total of 4 bags and that's just compulsive. Near Mae Hong Song is Soppong- Near the Burmese boarder. It's a tiny little villiage, but near it are some spectacular caves and a great place where we stayed called Cave Lodge Ko Tao is smaller than Ko Samui, and just north of it. And while i have the map, you may want to take note of some other places- Pattaya- where the Regent's school is, that is where i spend most of my time teaching. Koh Chang- another island, Thialand's second biggest after Phuket, where the Regents outdoor ed camp is- undeveloped and SO beautiful! A great place just to sit in your hammock and appreciate nature. Ko Samet (near Pattaya, but not on map)- An island with crystal clear water (sometimes) and sunbleached sand. About an hour from Pattaya, you can just spend the weekend on the beach during the day and going out at night... bliss! Bangkok- Home sweet home!

9.9.03 I'm planning on scanning more photos this week (fingers crossed!) but it's been a very busy time. Dave's leaving this Sat (sniff!) Sophie is leaving Tues 23rd (sob!) and I've been flat out doing... well, not too sure actually. Last night we went 'into town' well, actually, I'm not too sure where town is, but we went to Sukhimvit with about 50kg (no kidding- most of them clothes) of Sophie's stuff to send. After we had packed, repacked, invoiced, reinvoiced and Sohie had signed all the forms two hours had already passed. We decided to wander the streets of Sukhimvit and grab some tucker. (Note the Australian slang Chloe!) It was good fun sitting otside an egyptian restaurant eating kebabs and watching the world go by. Well, try to go by, we were staring at a traffic jam, but there was pedestrian traffic as well... I'll try and get the photos organised soon. Until then take care, Tara xx
11.9.03 Bizarre Bangkok (or maybe Eccentic Ekathanee) For those who don't know, Ekathanee is the condo where Phe and I live, and it was there that we encountered the fastest chatup neither of us believed possible. Now, we have been chatted up before. (can you believe it?!?!) Last time was down Soi 3 Sukhumvit at an Egyptian restaurant by the waiter. He looked distinctly pleased (and hopeful) when he asked us if we were married and we replied in the negative. After our phones (yes, both at the same time) rang and we answered, he was out there straight away, demanding for our phone numbers, looking genuinly suprised when we refused (politely). But I'm getting off track here... The story Phoebe and I wanted to retell is this... "i'm hungry Phe, want to get some food?" "Sure" Whilst waiting for he elevator and we were joined by a man. (saucy!- the story, not the man) "Hi" he initiated (5th floor) The doors opened "How are you?" We replied unimaginatively (something along the line of "good thanks")(4th floor) "How long have you been here?" (3rd floor) "Do you live here?" (2nd floor) And as the doors opened on the first floor signalling the end to our brief but poignant conversation, the clincher.... "can i have your number?" Phe spluttered, I smirked and said, "I think we'll be ok" And the out of luck man disappeared from our life as, instead of exiting on the ground floor he pressed '3' which I assumed was his destination in the first place...
