Previous Page Leave me alone, Tetchie. Wurs Jeck? Not here. Nu wander. Istap da ismuk, Gina. Chow da betel wid mey. Its the same thing. Yah, but it dasent smell like dat. Gina ignored her. The cigarette smoke wasnt bothering Tetchie, she thought; she was just looking for a reason to ask where Jack was. He probably did her a couple of times, too, for extra cash to support his vices. Youre his vice, a voice inside her said. He says he does everything for you, lives his life for you and wishes he could spend all his time with you. Well, hes not with me right now, she replied despairingly in her head. * * * Ay, Eugene squealed, here na he is! Jack tensed; the newcomer was tall, fair and chisel-jawed. The muscles on his chest fairly rippled. A wave of insecurity suddenly swept over Jack. Jack, Eugene said, getting up, meet Dennis Santos. They shook hands. Dennis stood at least half a foot taller than Jack, who was already towering at five foot ten. Hi, Jack. Dennis grinned. They sat. Dennis is wan of my beast buyers, Eugene gushed. Best buyers, Huge, Dennis laughed. He turned to Jack. I bought one of your movies from him, he said, and I thought it was very well-done. Your acting was very good. A cynical eyebrow shot into the air. Really? Youre wasting your time with these films, Dennis continued, I want to build you into a real star. No more bold films. Jack couldnt believe his ears. I will finance your way to the top. You will star in films I will buy especially for you. I will give you a decent house, and a fair monthly allowance. Hee! Eugene spat, rising to his feet. You cant teek awee my istar! I discavered him, I rist him like my own beebee! Shut up, Eugene, Jack hissed. Ill give you three percent of Jacks every talent fee. Okee, sige. He sat back down. But there are three conditions, Jack. Jacks heart sank.
