| G MONEY: Sharing the Wealth | |||||||||||||
| The music business is about self-expression, he says, and I want people to hear my perspective, because its all about truth. Spiritual truth. Were all spiritual beings, creatures of God. I speak what I believe, we are Filipinos who believe in a higher truth that is Jesus Christ. I am floored. Thats where the name G Money comes from, he continues. God gives you blessings. Hes blessed me with talent, the power to rock the mikes and speak the truth. People will tell you to change your name because your image wont sell. Then theyll tell you your music wont sell either. Cant blame them. These people want to make money. My money is G-given talent, and no one can take that away from me. I tell him theres nothing like him in mainstream Philippine hiphop today, rapping on positive issues and spirituality. He accepts my compliment humbly. The rap scene here is developing, and theres enough negativity around. Im quite different from other rappers, because I rap on a positive tip. Weve got good ideas that need to be expressed. Sometimes I wish that political songs would hit on the charts. Francis M. did it, I tell him. Much props to Francis M, he laughs. I respect his originality. Its all about making your own music. Like, I wont do covers because I respect other artists work. I wouldnt want to gain fame from someone elses work. My cordless phone starts beeping, indicating Im out of battery. I have to cut the interview short. G Money understands. Its all good if people are touched by my music. Open your minds, hearts and souls. Previous Page Back To My Music |
