The next topic of Attacking is how to do it. First, you must email the HnR Team telling the specifics of your hit. You must include the weapon you are using and the victim of your assault. The scenario of the attack is very simple: 1. Our Dice Program will roll two die. After the two die are rolled, your attack/stealth plus the attack/stealth of the weapon you used. Then, the victim's defense is subtracted from the total dice roll. If the roll is above 11, then the hit is successful. Your stealth is now added to the original die roll. A combined total of 10+ means that you evade police completely and are free of any charges. But, don't fret if you get a lower number! Not always do the police find you, and having a somewhat high stealth level helps ward them off. Even if the hit is unsuccessful, the Santa Monica newspaper will be updated the following day with news of the attempted hit. But, if the Police do happen to catch wind that it was you that committed the hit, successful or not, you will be sent to the Santa Monica Jail where you will either have to bail yourself out or have someone else do it for you. While you are in jail you do not generate any money from property, nor are you allowed to sell, buy, or accept money from anyone. The only way back into the game is to get bailed out. But, if you are found guilty of murder, maybe even a few past murders that went cold-cased, you could be sentenced to death! Anyone who dies in the game is allowed to come back as many times as they please, but they will lose all of what they had and will have to create a totally new character.
Some people ask, "What will happen to an organization if an official in it dies, such as an underboss or caporegime?" The question to that is very simple. The Don or Leader of the organization will have to appoint a new member of the family/gang to fill the unoccupied slot. If for some reason the Don or Leader dies, the organization is disbanded and all of the characters will be forfeited to an independent position.
Another popular question people ask is, "Can you perform a multiple-attacker hit on someone?" The answer is yes. Multiple attacker hits are performed thus: All of the members participating (Up to Four) must register an attempted hit on the same person, just like if you were doing it solo. Then, when all four people's die are rolled, each is halved and added to the rest. A score of 11+ scores a successful hit and each individual's stealth is accounted for seperately.
