  CPU's

Processors are the brain of the computer, their speeds are given in Mhz (mega hertz), the speed is multiplied by the setting they are built for, from the manufacturer.

The CPU's have their own slot/socket, and have to be compatible or they won't work with a MB.

The manufacturers have different slot/sockets and processors. AMD & Intel are the big names at the moment. They both have their high power ones and their bargains.
